Students will explore this battle between the English and the French for control of land in the new
world. They will learn about what events lead up to the battle, where the conflicts took place, and will
be introduced to some of the key figures that had and influence on the outcome of the war, including
George Washington.

Instructional Input and Procedures:
1. I will begin by introducing the topic of the French and Indian War. We will discuss who students
think were involved in the war and why.
2. Each student will be given the French and Indian War KWLH chart and will fill in the first two
sections of the chart.
ESOL: Modified KWLH Chart.
3. Students will be selected to read portions of the French and Indian War article that is displayed
on the overhead. As we read through the article we will stop and talk about the integrated
vocabulary when necessary.
ESOL: students will be provided with a handout of the article to follow along with. Maps,
Illustrations.
4. After reading the article students will complete the French and Indian War Comprehension
Questions worksheet.
5. Students will then complete the final two sections of the KWLH chart.
ESOL: Allow student to complete assignment with oral or visual representations.
6. Using their completed charts students will then create a Four Fold Organizer that will placed in
their history notebooks.
