Neuroscience ICU Nurse

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing in regards to my application for the Neuroscience ICU Nurse at Tampa General Hospital. I
am currently finishing my last semester of nursing school at the University of South Florida and I
graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing on May 5, 2017. I plan on taking the NCLEX as soon as I
am able to. I chose to apply for this position not only because of the reputation Tampa General Hospital
upholds, which is an established Level One Trauma Center and Magnet recognition in West Central
Florida, but also because of what this healthcare organization promises in providing compassionate and
patient-centered care. Critical care nursing is a challenging profession, but because of my passion and
experiences in the critical care field, I know I will thrive in this type of environment.

I have gained a variety of experiences throughout my nursing career by completing my clinical work on
various units at Tampa General Hospital. The hospital has provided me with hands-on clinical
experiences in diverse areas of nursing including medical-surgical, critical care, pediatrics, obstetrics,
palliative care, and long term care. My clinical experiences have taught me the importance of patient
safety, applying critical thinking skills, and formulating a patients plan of care.

In addition, I was fortunate enough to receive my preceptorship placement in the Neuroscience Intensive
Care Unit at Tampa General Hospital and completed a total of 180 clinical hours in the unit. This floor
has given me the opportunity to think quickly and safely, and has helped me grow while providing the
best patient-centered care. Also, I have learned to properly communicate and collaborate with other
members of the healthcare team in discussing a patients plan of care. These experiences have helped me
develop a strong foundation in my time management, decision-making, and critical thinking skills.

I am compassion, detail oriented, and highly motivated individual that values teamwork and striving for
excellence. With my positive attitude, I am confident I would not only benefit from being a part of the
Tampa General team, but also be a valuable asset because of the qualities and skills I possess. I would
provide the highest quality patient-centered care at all times.

I sincerely appreciate your time and consideration and I look forward to hearing from you. Please contact
me if there are any further questions at (352) 228-1423.

Very Respectfully,

Edgar Filipinas
