Classroom Rules and Consequences

Classroom Rules:
1. Respect other classmates and teachers both physically and verbally during all times.
2. Come to class prepared and in your seat ready to learn when the last morning bell rings
1. Make sure all items that can cause distractions are kept in your backpack
3. Classroom time is used for learning and working on assignments and not used for goofing
off
1. If all classroom work and homework is complete, look over it again to make sure
you understand the material. If not ask the teacher or any other adult for help.
2. Once work is looked over twice, you make read quietly in your seat until further
instructions are given
4. Know and accept your place in the classroom and the school community. You are the
student, and are here to learn while having fun. Respect all those in the school
community at all times.
5. Follow all the rules stated in the student handbook of the school.
Consequences for not following these rules:
1. First offense: Verbal warning
2. Second offense: 1-on-1 meeting with the teacher
3. Third offense: RTC along with a note home explaining what has happened
4. Fourth offense: Student-Parent-Teacher Conference to develop a plan of action
5. Fifth offense: Student will be removed from class for a respective time period stated in
the handbook following the offense done

These are my main classroom rules that I would like to have in my classroom. I would
really like to hear some rules and consequences from the students as well to let them know that
they do indeed have a say in the classroom. This can be done on the first day of school.
However, the consequences must be reasonable and fair to every student within the room. If they
are reasonable, then I will go by what the students have come up with when using discipline to
handle the problem or situation.

Classroom Management Plan

Classroom management and organization of the teacher and classroom are a big factor for
helping students learn. The classroom needs to provide a safe and fun learning environment
where all students can feel accepted. I believe when students feel the safety of the environment,
along with the rules of the classroom they will be more open up to new ideas of those around
them. That is why it is important for both students and the teacher to have their level of
expectations and these need to be carefully stated in a clear form.

Management and Organization of the Classroom:

All classroom rules, consequences, and procedures will be gone over and discussed on
the first day of school. Everything will be posted near the front door in a clear sight for
the teacher and all students within the room.
I will layout the desks in a seat charted for the first section of school. If students behave
well and work hard enough to earn the privilege, I will let them decide how their desk
will be set up, but I will be in charge of who sits next to who. If this privilege is misused,
a seating chart will be made quickly and be put into action later in day or the next day.
Lessons plans used for the classroom and students, will be looked over throughly and
carefully reviewed in fair amount of time before the actual lesson. This means lessons
will be checked over for: how the time of the lesson will be used such for transitions from
each subject to the next, different types of teaching strategies and how to prevent
unwanted behaviors, and to plan out the materials needed for activities for the students.
After each lesson is done, I will carefully review the lesson and make adjustments
accordingly.
The entire time of the lesson will be used efficiently and to provide learning opportunities
for the students. No time will be allowed for goofing off, or messing around.
All work that is done, whether it is homework or tests, will be geared towards the
objectives of the subject and have an educational purpose.

Expectations of the students:

Students will respect the teacher and fellow classmates
Students will be ready to participate in classroom activities, unless permission is given
prior to the activity.
Students will show to others how to be responsible and respectful for social interactions
Students will be responsible for maintaing the learning environment within the
classroom.
Students will put all their effort in their work at all times
Expectations of the teacher:
The teacher will be ready to teach each day with a positive attitude.
The teacher will treat all students with the equal amount of respect.
The teacher will be responsible for maintaining the learning environment within the
classroom and making sure it provides the resources needed to learn.
The teacher will assist students at times either before school or after school if needed.

Procedures
Students will come into the classroom with all proper materials and take care of any
business, such as using the bathroom or filling up their water bottles, and be seated by the
time the morning bell rings.
Either before or after the morning bell, students will begin to work on the task that is
written clearly on the board. This will also be the time for the students to have their
completed homework on their desk ready for the teacher to come pick up.
Once morning work is completed, students will take out their reading books and read
until the teacher begins to teach
During transition times from morning work will be the time for students to get all
materials needed for the lesson and put all unnecessary items away.
While during the lesson, students will follow along and write notes that the teacher says
need be to written down. If a student is not doing so, the teacher will make their presence
known and prompt the student to be writing notes. Students will stay in their seat during
any lecturing time unless the teacher says otherwise. If any emergencies arise, the teacher
will handle them accordingly and fairly for all students.
Once it is work time, students will be allowed to sharpen pencils again if needed and then
start working on the assignment. Students will be allowed to work with a partner of their
choice if their behavior was acceptable during the lecture, if not students will remain in
their seats.
It will be the students responsibility to collect all missed work from the teacher. The
make up time will be a respected amount time based on how long the student was absent
from class.
All homework assigned will be collected the next following morning for full credit.
Homework will be accepted late with no penalty if there is a reasonable excuse.
Otherwise late homework will have a penalty.
When it is time for a transition to a new subject, students will put away all previous
materials and take out the new materials needed for the next lesson. When it is a
transition to recess, students will clean off their work area and wait patiently in their seats
until the teacher dismisses them. The teacher dismisses the students, not the bell.

For a classroom to run smoothly these procedures need to be cemented into all the students
mind. These procedures listed, but not limited to, are used to help prevent disruptions in the
class. If procedures are followed to as close to perfect as possible, students will not have to
worry about breaking the classroom or school rules. These procedures, along with new
procedures added, will be posted around the room if they need to be.

Classroom Discipline Beliefs

Minor Disruptions:
Minor disruptions such as talking, students not paying attention, day dreaming, will be
given the teacher look to make the students know that I see them. If the students continue to
goof off after they notice the look, I will move around the room towards the area of distractions.
I may even pick the student goofing off to answer the question that I asked and if they did not
hear it, I will not repeat the question. This will make them realize it is time to pay attention
because they are losing valuable education time.

On-going Discipline issues:

If the student(s) continue to goof off after the proper warnings they will be disciplined in
the way of the consequences the students came up with the beginning of the school year. If these
consequences are not stopping the student(s) from their disruption towards the class, the
consequences will then come from me that I stated at the beginning of the year. The consequence
coming from me will be fair and will be decided on the level of the disruptions. If both the
students and my consequences, students will be asked to attend the principles office and call
their parent(s) to set up a time with myself and the principle to develop a plan.

Aggressive and Violent Behaviors:

If there is any kind of aggressive or violent behaviors, students will automatically be sent
to the office, while I call the principal to let him or her know what the offense was. A call home,
along with a note home, will be done as soon as the student reaches the office. Depending on the
action done, either myself or the principal will decide the proper consequence. If the principal is
responsible for deciding the consequence, she or he will refer to the school handbook. She or he
will base their decision on the code stated in the proper section under the violent and/or
aggressive behavior. Be warned that students can be suspended from school for a time frame
reflecting the action done. If the action is too great and/or dangerous/harmful, the student
may/will be expelled from the school.
