Word Recognition Growth



In September, the student mastered half of the Primer
September November
word list and the 1st grade word list.
After sight word instruction and practicing fluency and

She can recognize 75% of the words when the words are
flashing quickly (100% untimed). She was able to
recognize 50% of the flashing 1st grade list (70% untimed).
The student will need to be able to master the 1st grade
and 2nd grade list by the end of the year to be on level. Preprimer Primer 1st
The student started out in September at the Late Letter
Name stage, which is about a first grade level.
Word After explicitly working on the spelling features she needed
Knowledge help mastering and using her knowledge in her writing, the
student made process in her word knowledge.
There are three specific word features we worked on and
she made growth in each feature. In November, she is at
the Early Within Word (around a first/second grade level). Reading Growth
Features mastered: affricates, nasals, CVCe words
At this point of the year, we want our second graders to be September Nomember
at a level J or K. 99 98 96
Passage The student started at a level E (first grade level) and 89
Reading made a great leap to a level G. Level is still at a first grade
level. This is tremendous growth however its not enough
progress to get where she needs to be.
The student will need to increase for reading level to at
least an L by the end of the year (5 reading levels).
