Schedules 40 and 801
This standard is issued under the fixed designation F 441/F 441M; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year
of original adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.
A superscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.

This standard has been approved for use by agencies of the Department of Defense.

11. Quality Assurance

11.1 When the product is marked with this designation,
F 439, the manufacturer affirms that the product was manufac-
tured, inspected, sampled, and tested in accordance with this
specification and has been found to meet the requirements of
this specification.

"PANACEA"
6962
SPECIAL
EPDM COMPOUND

For use in Electrochemical Chlor-Alkali and Chlorate Plants; Electrochemical

Metals Refinery Plants, and Bleaching Pulp Mills

6962 Sheet & Tubing Available Sizes

Typical Service Applications

"Panacea" 6962 is a SPECIAL compound elastomer of EPDM (Ethylene Propylene, Diene, Monomer),
compounded with a high content of polymer exceeding 53%, with a peroxide cure. This unique compounding
Hot, Wet, Chlorine Gas provides resistance to temperatures through 300 deg. F on a wide range of chemicals and maintains its
Sodium Hydroxide resistance to compression set better than "commercial" grades of EPDM. 6962 is an ideal material for parts
(Caustic Soda to 50% conc.) requiring a wide resistance to chemicals utilized and produced in the Chlorine, Caustic, and Bleach Industries.
Potassium Hydroxide (to 33% conc.) SPECIAL "Panacea" 6962 material is manufactured into gasketing, tubing, hose, expansion joints, molded
Hydrochloric Acid (37% conc.) shapes, linings and fabricated parts.
Hydrogen Gas
Hypochlorous Acid
Sodium Chlorate For purposes of utilizing 6962 stock in Electrolytic Membrane-type Chlor-Alkali applications, 6962 is
Sodium Chlorate/with Hypo Brine (Sodium and Potassium compounded without the use of Calcium or Magnesium as ingredients. These types of metals or elements are
Chlorides) potentially injurious to fluorobased Membranes; the fact that 6962 is compounded without these ingredients,
Ultra-Pure Brine makes it a prime consideration for Gasketing in Electrolytic Membrane applications.

This SPECIAL compound 6962 EPDM exhibits resistance to most acids, bases and polar solvents such as water, phosphate ester, Ketones, alcohols, and glycols. EPDM swells
considerably in aliphatic, aromatic, and chlorinated solvents. This compound is resistant to ozone attack and is weather resistant. We have found that 6962 generally outperforms any
"commercial" grade EPDM.
