ROLE DESCRIPTION

Position: Strategic Planning Coordinator (Full-Time)


Reporting to: Head of Strategic Planning

JCA is looking for a full time Strategic Planning Coordinator to support its Strategic Planning
function.

Function
To support the Strategic Planning function (Planning, Allocations, Building & Capital, Status
Committees) in achieving superior community outcomes and the General Executive in matters
of organisational strategy and administration.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management
Drives projects identified by the Planning Committee as being important to the future of the
community. Manages others if necessary to ensure necessary work is accomplished,
including data analysis, financial analysis, surveying community organisations, reviewing
international research, researching program models, coordinating and managing
implementation of focus groups and researching appropriate delivery mechanisms.
Engages and works cooperatively with JCA constituents and other stakeholders.
Engages and works with current and developing community leaders together with CEO and
Lay Leadership.
Provides written updates and reports on the progress of projects as required.

Industry Knowledge
Analyses and updates market research intelligence to increase understanding of the
demographics of the entire community and hence the changing needs of JCAs constituent
organisations
Has a broad understanding of community organisations.

Information Analysis
Analyses and plans for the various communal sectors in conjunction with constituents
Analyses census data in conjunction with the demographer to inform various projects
Analyses constituent data for a range of exercises (e.g. cost benchmarking, Jewish day
school fee assistance formula, young adult demographics, etc).

Administration
Provides logistical and administrative support to Planning Committee, Allocations
Committee, Building & Capital Committee and Status Committee (coordinates meeting
times, drafts agendas, takes minutes and distributes information as required).
Manages annual Allocations process, Building & Capital process and Endowment Funds
process.

Strategic
Advises and supports Planning Committee, Allocations Committee, Building & Capital
Committee and Status Committee on key issues relevant for the community
Drafts strategic plans and project briefs with regard to key Planning projects

Appropriate documentation of work via regular minutes, reports and record-keeping

Important Relationships
High level of inter-personal, communication and organisational skills and the ability to
create and maintain effective working relationships with senior lay leaders, members of
constituent organisations and the broader community.

Knowledge Competencies
Tertiary qualification in a relevant field such as Communications, Arts, Business, Law or
Commerce.
Highly computer literate (MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
2-5 years of relevant work experience

Interpersonal Competencies
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Must be able to liaise confidently with business people, board members and major donors
Ability to mediate conflicts and facilitate agreed outcomes
Ability to develop rapport and communicate confidently in public
Ability to structure unstructured problems and work plans

Applies business acumen and common sense
