Overview

The developing political scenario in the South China Sea continues to be of major concern to the Region, in
particular ASEAN. As a result, the Philippines have embarked on a major upgrading and modernisation of
its Armed Forces (AFP),

Department of National Defence (DND) recently announced the Second Phase of the AFP Modernisation
Programme code name The Second Horizon which will cover the period 2017-2022.

The Russian Defense and Security Expo Manila (RUSDEF 2017) Series will continue to enjoy the full support
of the Philippine DND and other relevant Agencies has become in its short history, an important
International Event to showcase defence and security products in a fast expanding market.

RUSDEF 2017 will attract international exhibitors from around the world to Manila in 2016. As Organisers
we will be working closely with the AFP, the Office of Civil Defence (OCD) and the Philippine Coast Guard
(PCG) to encourage exhibitors participating in the Show to set up meetings with relevant Senior Personnel
in order to fully evaluate requirements regarding their upgrade and modernisation plans.

RUSDEF 2017 will also focus on the needs and requirements of the Asia Pacific Armed Forces, the Internal
State Security Organisations and Crisis & Disaster Management Agencies

The Philippine Secretary of DND and Chiefs of Services of Supporting Agencies will be sending invitations to
their counterparts from the Russia and CIS States, Asia Pacific region to attend the Show as VIP Delegates.
Over 120 VIP Delegates who are potential buyers and representing relevant Defence, Security and Crisis &
Disaster Management Agencies and Industry will be invited to attend the Show.

Meetings with VIP Delegations and / or specific Delegates will be arranged through our Event Business
Matching department.

Senior AFP Officers and other senior Supporting Agency Personnel, with confirmed procurement
responsibilities will be the focus amongst the VIP Delegations.
The Exhibition

RUSDEF 2017 is the first Russian and CIS dedicated Defence and Security Exhibition held in Philippines to serve the Republic and Asia Pacific region.

RUSDEF 2017 will also incorporate a Crisis Management and Disaster Rescue Component to provide for Civil Defence market requirements.

The Philippine Congress had approved more than US$1.8 billion for military modernisation in 2012, with the majority of funds allocated for the acquisition of
ships, aircraft and equipment such as radars, helicopters and armoured vehicles.

A 15-year modernization programme currently being undertaken offers international exhibitors an ideal opportunity to discuss programmes in their initial
stages and forge new commercial relationships with Government Agencies and local industry.
The Philippines is an market with few restrictions.

Companies wishing to supply equipment and systems in Disaster Response and Management should remember no other country experiences the same level
of natural disasters as the Philippines.

Ongoing terrorism problems in the South are some of the most serious in Asia. The Government is therefore modernising its Special Forces and Army to meet
