Records
It was first day of school. Children were sitting in the classroom. Adam was sitting
in class with his malay friends and was communicating in Malay with them. As I
entered in the classroom, Im pointing the children to sit in a circle and start the ice
breaking with them. How do you feel? was the topics of the day. All the children
able to understand my instruction and react upon it. But I notice that Adam and his
other 2 malay friends were only staring and no feedback from them. Since no
feedbacks from them, then I started to explain the topic slightly in Malay. He and
his friends started to show positive feedbacks.

Comments
Based on my observation, I found that Adam has poor language development
specially in English. This is because he couldnt even react to any of the classroom
instruction. As I explain in Malay, then only he showed some reaction.

Action
Thus, I will help Adam to speak and understand English in my upcoming classes
using different kind of techniques and ways of delivering a message. As a starting
point, I would explain in both Bahasa and English. I will talk in English and
demonstrate the action, will convey my message or instruction in slowly, clearly
and with louder voice projection. And will let him to follow after me in talking
English and will guide him in making simple conversation and explains the
meaning in Malay.

Records
It was last week of my observation (last day being there). I was having
introduction session with 6years old children. My topic was Consonants. I was
using word cards to explain. I let children to listen to the sound effects and show
them pictures to guess. As I flashed a picture card and asked Who is he ?, Adam
quickly raise his hand say , Teacher, itu ahli bomba. He showed a positive
feedback throughout the class. Then, he do told me that his ambition is to be an
astronaut. He able to react to all my simple instruction. Ex : As I say Children
lets make ambulance noise! he was able to do so (he was the first to react ). I
even notice that he was (imitating) follow after what is being said by me.

Comments
Based on my observation, I found that Adam has improvements in his language
development specially in English. This is because from couldnt, now he could
react to my simple instruction. And I was less likely using Malay to explain
something.

Action
My following steps will be talking a lot in English with him. I will be making more
action games, simon says , conversation on greetings and communicating.

Records
It was last week of my observation (last day being there). I was having
introduction session with 6years old children. My topic was Consonants. I was
using word cards to explain. I let children to participate along with me in finding
the consonant word cards and stick it on the board. Adam was being active
participant. He was able to response to me well and able to relate his knowledge.
This is because the same topic was already thought in Malay by the other teacher.

Comments
Based on my observation, I found that Adam has improvements in his language
development specially in English. This is because from couldnt, now he could
react to my simple instruction. He even able to relate the topics and understand
even better in English. At this pace, I found that he even starts to imitate his friends
and the teacher when comes to communicating. He even tries to speack in English.
Action
My action was praising his efforts in talking English, I do even ask him to talk
infront of the classroom with guidance and had lots of singing and rhymes session
with them.

Records
It was the first day of teaching them English. As I started the class with greeting.
There was no reply from children. Everyone was staring at me. The other children
able to greet to me but Mia was not responding. Then, I continued to introduce
colours to children. Again this time around, other children able to respond in their
own way (with guidance of the teacher) able to repeat after and response after the
teacher. Mia was the only girl who was not repeating after and staring along the
class.
Comments
Based on my observation, childrens in the classroom was trained only to speak in
Malay. They were using Malay as first language and English as second language.
Yet some children able to understand but couldnt reply or respond to teacher in
English.
Action
Thus, my action/efforts for upcoming class will be different. I will be working
more on doing communication using different techniques, ex : I will be using
Dwibahasa , will explain in both languages but uses more English and let them
to repeat after me, will teach them to sing (rhymes), will be doing some action
play in class (follow the instruction).
