Lesson 1

2nd grade
Standard: Standard K.2.2.A Identify the physical characteristics of places.
Accommodation: Student with anxiety will be permitted more time to take
quiz.
Activity: Along with the magazines, print out picture, sad other items
needed to create a map, student will take a small quiz. The map will be hand
made, started from scratch. Students will gather classroom materials to
create their own map based on the descriptions learned about different types
of communities in class. Students will match simple description of places to
the correct community. Students will be reading and visually analyzing
pictures to complete the quiz.

Activity: Students will write down needs and wants from a word bank.
Students will also find pictures from magazines, newspapers, and other
materials to add in their chart. Students can write in their own needs and
wants without the given examples in the word bank.

needed in a community using this template. They can write things in, draw,
or paste pictures.

2nd grade
Standard: Standard 6.2.2.A Identify goods, services, consumers, and
producers in the local community.
Accommodation: Student with GAD will be excused during Career Week
guest speakers. Student will have assistance in completing the organizer and
will be permitted more time. The students will have their own observational
points. (Seen with *)
Activity: Students will be observed during the Career Week guest speakers
through a checklist. At the end of the week, students will fill out graphic
organizer which then produce an essay. All of the points in the graphic
organizer will form a small essay.
