Assessment Plan
Summary:
This assessment plan will focus around the units central themes of
inequality, injustice and racism in the past and how it is present in
contemporary society. Students will complete each assignment to be graded
on their knowledge of the subject and completion of the objectives. The unit
will begin with a journal brainstorm that will open the conversation about
inequality and its presence over time. Then throughout the rest of the unit
students will create a diagram, take a quiz, write through a different
perspective and share their writings, and participate in a class debate. These
assessments will help students understand the unit concepts through
different forms of activities. The unit will conclude with two different
assignments, one will be a letter to a character and the other will be a group
poster presentation on the overall unit. The goal of the unit is to get students
thinking about the novel and the unit through a perspective that transcends
time, and borders.
