Get sets of posters together
Draw on board:
Safety
Mat set up
Warm up
Planning/rehearsal
Also draw set up of mats so they are set up how I want
PROCEDURE
Introduction ( 10 min.):
(hook, pre assessment, connection to curriculum, focus/learning area, expectations, Transition, groupings,
overview)
I cannot wait to see your routines develop. I have seen some great Assessment
creativity in the last couple classes and I think there will be some great Assessing their skills
performances developing and I&R and safety
The agenda for today is to talk about safety, set up mats, do a warm up application
and then you can have the rest of the class to plan. Please use today
wisely. I need to know everyones music by the end of the day so just at
some point come and tell me your song and theme
Focus: work well with your groups, I want to see great group work and
everyone contributing. I want to see everyone acting safe and for
everyone to be putting forth their best skills today
Please remember the safety rules we have learned about pyramids and
rotations. If you are unsure about any stunts or activities please come ask

and I will come over and answer your questions to make sure nobody
hurts themselves. Get into your gymnastics groups and discuss the safety
rules of pyramids and then we will draw from groups at the end 30
seconds go (then repeat but for rotation)
If anyone needs assistance with head or hand stands then please put up
your hand and let me know first
For mat set up. Please look at the drawing on the board so that the mats
are set up in a certain way

(3 min) Warm up: starting a mat one facing office do a horizontal rotation
and then end with a landing bear walk to mat 2 and do a longitudinal
roll leap to mat 3 and do anterior posterior rolls (repeat twice the with
your group have a seat on a mat send one person from each group to get
your papers and you can begin practicing share the mats, each group will
get 5-10 mins to practice on the middle mat which is the size you will be
performing on

which group would like to practice on the performance mat first send Assessing their skills

Allow students to practicing rotating groups (numbering each group application
based on where they sit so when they sit down on the mats number each
group off and then allow each group 5-10 min to practice on
performance mat but first ask which group would like to practice their

Closure ( 2 min.): * Connect your closure with learning objectives*

Thank the students for their application of safety and great group work Assessment
throughout the class. We will get a bit more time at the beginning of
class tomorrow

10 Key questions to review your plan:

1) What will my classroom/ gym/ teaching area look like when I begin to teach?
2) How will I interest the students on the lesson questions/ topic?
3) At what part of the lesson will I assess formatively? Summatively?
4) Have I clearly planned how I will transition from each part of the lesson (e.g. intro to activity 1)
5) Have I given thought to what approach to use in each activity? (e.g., direct instruction vs. group work)
6) Do I have enough detail in my activity descriptions to really understand what I will say, do, and assess?
7) Have I considered how my students will react to each activity? Any special learner considerations?
8) Do I know what evidence I am looking for as I assess formatively (e.g.- as you observe students
working- what are you looking for? As you question the students- what types of answers are you hoping
to receive?)
9) Does my closure solidify the key points to the lesson?
10) Do I connect my closure to the lesson objectives?

Lesson Reflections (After you teach):
What went well:

This particular mat set up allowed me to see all of the students abilities in performing the skills being asked of
them. I was able to stand back and have a chance to see each student perform 1-2 rotations. This mat set up also
enhanced by classroom management because I was able to see everyone at once.

What can be improved upon:

If there are a larger number of students in the class, increasing the number of repetitions I ask them to perform
of a skill will give me more time to see each student perform that particular skill.

Describe how the students met your lesson objectives:

Students worked with their group members and needed to collaborate so they could put together a stuntnastics
routine. Students also met objectives because safety was reinforced and they were being assessed on their ability
to apply those safety procedures while practicing their routines.
