Lesson: The physics of cloud formation

Unit Overview
Main Idea (Claim) Summative Assessment
Demonstrate the creativity and almighty -Laboratory
of our God and encourage students to -Midterm and final Exam
understand God better from what God -Final presentation
created.

Guiding Questions Objectives (know/understand/do/value)

-Students are expected to know how to The student will
draw a graph of the cloud formation -Be able to define different types of cloud.
-What are the different patterns of cloud -Compared the different weather from the
and various forms of precipitation? high and low pressure in the air masses.
-How to tell the weather from the cold -How to draw the graph of cloud formation.
and warm temperature in air masses?

Time Instructional Procedures and Strategies

Beginning the Lesson
-Review what we have learned from last class
-Ask students to draw the picture of a cloud, each student will draw different
shape or size, after they done, let students to explain why they draw could in
10m certain shapes or sizes. And then, I will teach them the different types of
cloud and the formation of cloud.
-Show them the three factors (pressure, temperature, and amount of water in
cloud) that determine the precipitation.
-explain what the cloud is look like in high and low pressure air. For example,
in the high pressure air, the clouds tend to be cumulonimbus; however, the
cloud in low pressure air often does not form precipitation.
-teach them how to know the different precipitation from cloud.

35m Developing the Lesson

- Take out the jar and have one of the students tape the black piece of paper onto one side of
the jar. Ask another student to pour 2 cm of water into the jar. Light a match and hold it in the
jar for a few seconds and then drop it in. Have a student quickly cover the jar. Then squeeze
the bottle and release it. Have another student shine the flashlight on the jar. After the
experiment, explain how the cloud form.
-Divide the students into different groups, each group has three or four people, let them to do
the experiment themselves and required them to explain how does cloud form based on the
experiment.
-Fill out the science form

Turn in their work form and close the class with prayer.

Formative Assessment Differentiation

-Quizzes Some students are more likely to learn
-Daily homework through pictures. So I prepare PowerPoint
-Science journal with the pictures about what I taught in
-Group lab this class and draw graphs on the board,
which will be very helpful for them to
understand the lesson. For the other
students who prefer to learn by oral
teaching, I will explain orally and interact
with them by asking questions.
Resources
-Match, water, Jar, black paper, a maker.
