Content Area/Grade/Standards/Topics Addressed: MGSEK.G.2 Correctly name shapes

regardless of their orientations or overall size.

Brief Description of Learning Experience:

At the beginning of this activity, the students will listen to the podcast for the directions. The
standard that is addressed if for the student to correctly name shapes regardless of their size. The
project is introduced to the student and parent through the audio podcast. This activity should take
about two hours to complete. The audience is the students in the classroom. This allows for the
students to not only interact with their parents, but with their classmates as well.
This project consists of finding shapes around the students environment. From there, the student
will take a picture of those images and post it on the classroom blog. Then, the students can look at
other classmates posts as well to gather more insight to the shapes others found. The teacher will
assess the students work according to if the image they posted is a shape or not. This podcast should
allow the student to understand the directions for this at home project.

Student Engagement/Higher-Order Thinking:

LoTi 4 level is reached during this learning experience. The students are observing shapes around them with their parent.
They are given the choice of what objects they want to take a picture of. This is engaging because it allows involvement between
the parent and student as well/

Importance of technology:
Using multimedia tools is critical for this project. The student/parents have to listen to this podcast
to know what to do for this at home project. The project could not be complete without technology. The
students have to have computer to get onto to the blog and post their images. Also, the images would
be lost without using the technology (the camera/phone to take the images on).

Internet Safety and Student Privacy:

Students will be provided with a link for the blog. This provides safety so that the students arent
wondering around in the internet. Safety is also provided by the parent working with the student. The
student isnt going to the blog by themselves. Their parents are helping them; therefore, the student is being
monitored outside the classroom still. This will eliminate the fears of the teacher and parents. Students and
parents will follow the policies of internet safety through this at home project.
