General Instructions for Project Work

1. Page Dimension & Binding Specifications: The dimension of the project report
should be in A4 size. The project Report should be Hard Bound using thick Black
art paper. The cover page should be printed in Golden Letters.

2. Cover Page: A specimen copy of the cover page is attached along with all the
specifications of the font size, style and line spacing.

3. Certificate: The institute will issue the certificate and the company will also give
one certificate. Students are requested to get 2 photocopies of each.

4. Number of reports: Students are required to make three sets of their project
work. The original one, to be kept along with them. Second and third copy (which
will be the photocopies of the original one) for the institute & the company
respectively.

5. Table of Contents: The table of contents should list all materials that is following
or coming ahead as well as any material, which precedes it. One and half spacing
should be adopted for typing the matter under this head. Check out the specimen
copy.

6. Page Numbers: Pages should be numbered consecutively and clearly. No Page


number should be indicated on the cover page, Abstract, Acknowledgement,
Executive summary and Certificates. From Cover page to certificate page, Greek
numbers should be used. From Main text to the end of the report (Excluding the
Bibliography and annexure) Indian numerals should be used. Check out the
Specimen.

7. Abstract: it is a one page brief synopsis of the project indicating its importance,
relevance in today’s scenario and how is it going to be useful for the people who
will come across this report. It should be typed in one line spacing; font size 12
with times New Roman as the font style. The Heading Abstract should be in the
upper case, center alignment, font size 14, times new roman and underline.
Abstract will be shown in the Table of Content but it will not be given any page
number. Rather it will be marked as (i) in the lower case, Greek letters.

8. Acknowledgment: It is a one-page note in which gratitude towards all people


who have helped during the research work will be given. Acknowledgement
should preferably come in paragraphs form. While mentioning the names of the
individual, please make sure that the designation is mentioned clearly there.
Researcher is supposed to put his signature and name in the left hand lower corner
of the page. The acknowledgement will not be given any page number rather (ii)
will be displayed.

9. Use of word “I” prohibited: Leaving aside the Acknowledgement, words like I,
ME, OUR, WE etc will not be used in the project report. Instead the word
‘RESEARCHER’ will be used.

10. Executive Summary: It should be of 2-2.5 pages, single line spacing, font style
Times new roman and font size of 12. It should be written in paragraphs such that
each paragraphs depicts what work researcher has done in each of the chapters.
Researcher should summarize all the important points that are inherited in his
project work. Main issues and the suggestions could also be written in separate
paragraphs. Executive summary will not be marked as a chapter and hence will
not be given any Indian numeral page number. Instead of this mark the executive
summary as (iii).

11. Chapters: The main text will be divided into several chapters and each chapter
may be further divided into several divisions and sub divisions. Each chapter
should be given an appropriate title and an Indian numeral page number.

12. Facts & Findings: All the collected information will come under the chapter
“Facts & Findings”. This may contain the numerical data, or the information
collected through questionnaires. For example: if in a project study the researcher
comes across a fact that out of 100 people, 80 people like drinking Coke. This
piece of information will come in this chapter.

13. Analysis & Interpretation: This chapter deals with the application of the
concepts taught in the classes to the facts and findings. The researcher has to
analyze the data from a managerial perspective and interpret in such a manner so
that their respective companies, for gaining benefits, can use it. For example:
analysis of the above collected fact that 80 out of 100 prefers Coke can be “ Since
the Coke is having more shelf placement, better distribution network and more
visibility in the eyes of the consumers, people prefer it more” or it can be
interpreted as“ Since the advertisement campaign of ‘Thanda Matlab Coca Cola’
has given coke a better positioning, people has coke in their TOMA.”

14. Conclusion: Although the conclusion will come under the chapter “ Conclusions
& Suggestions”, it will be written as a sub division. It should be one page approx.
in length, detailing all the main issues and their aftermaths.

15. Suggestions: The researcher should give practical & feasible suggestions to the
company on those critical issues, which were still away from the eyes of the
company. It should be written in points such that one point focuses on resolving
one issue at a time. The word “Recommendation” should never come in a
student’s project report as they can only give Suggestions at this stage of life.

16. Bibliography: It is a section in which all the books, Journals, other references
that have been used to complete the project work should be written. The
researcher should clearly make different heading as of ‘Books’, ‘Journals’ etc and
then write the complete details of the books or so refereed. Check the way to write
the details in the specimen. Bibliography is not given any page number.

17. Annexure: Annexures are provided to give supplementary information, which if


included in the main text may serve as a distraction and would cloud the central
theme. Researcher is required to put one set of the questionnaire that is used in the
research here. Besides this, other materials like any balance sheets, P&L
statements or even Print advertisements, Broachers etc could be added in this. But
these all materials will not be given any page numbers. Neither the Indian
numerals nor the Greek digits.

18. Final Copies: Before producing final copies of the project report, researcher
should ensure that all spellings, grammar, punctuation and bibliography is
complete and exact.

NOTE: In chapter No; 3 of your Table of Content, a brief introduction to your topic will
come. For example, in Finance you are doing a project on Equity Research, then a brief
introduction to what is Equity research, how it is done, its importance will come in a sub
chapters format of 3.1, 3.2….. This is an important chapter which could be written with
the help of text books or journals or magazines, which will later be mentioned in
Bibliography.
