Where History Was Made

Students and teachers abandoned their regu-
lar four-walled classrooms on 10th March,
journeying on an adventure to rediscover
some of the sites that are significant to the
history and people of the Virgin Islands.

Led by an enthusiastic tour guide, Mr. Mar-

lon Choucoutou Jr., the eager convoy of stu-
dents, parents and teachers ventured to a
myriad of historical sites on the main island
of Tortola, including the Mount Healthy Na-
tional Park, the painted wall at Fahie Hill,
the painted wall at Long Look, the Josiahs
Bay Plantation , Trellis Bay and the St. Phil-
lips Anglican Church.

The students particularly loved the experi-

ence at the St. Phillips Anglican Church,
which was the first constructed in our part of
the world for freed Africans who were once
slaves. There, the students felt the spirit and
organized their own praise and worship ses-
sion, singing songs they would normally sing
at church or during school assemblies.

We sincerely thank Mr. Choucoutou, owner

of Yo Mamas Kitchen, for providing trans-
portation, refreshments and a fantastic at-
mosphere along the way.

Domestic Tourists Explore Virgin Gorda

Hundreds of thousands of visitors travel
many miles annually to explore Na-

IDPS educators are firm believers that

our children should know more about

The Grade 1, 4 and 5 students enjoyed

their educational staycation on the

On the itinerary that day were the Cop-

learnt some interesting and fun facts
about Virgin Gorda and neighbouring

events, but they didnt dampen the spirits of the IDPS
athletes, who were more than eager to participate on this
big stage.

IDPS competed against teams including Althea Scatliffe

Primary School, Joyce Samuel Primary School, Francis

Our athletes fought valiantly against some of the best ath-

the relays. In fact, a number of our athletes ran in older
divisions and medaled nevertheless.

Along with the usual medals, teams were awarded cash

prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishes. This year, the
IDPS teams were able to amass a total of $125 through
five 3rd place finishes.

Gift Exchange Meet Our Team of Educators

Very interesting things happen when there is a gift
exchange, and it is even more interesting when the
gift is a passionate teacher.

A part of the annual celebration of Education Week in

and skills to a different school and sometimes a
different Grade as well.
