Reflection to Journey

The journey project turned out to be very interesting; it inspired me to create something

like a biography in a form of a sketch book, which included my journey from Russia to the

United States. The journey is an inspiring project which objectives were to create a journal that

would represent my journey, which would relate to our self-representation. The middle of my

journal focuses on my passion such as creating art and becoming a teacher, while struggling as

an immigrant in this country that is so new to me. I loved the idea of creating a sketch book from

books that are being thrown away, therefore reusing important books which later become a

creative art work. Its important to be able to reuse materials and find alternative ways to create

different projects for our future students because of poor funding for certain programs at schools.

This project is an important example for me to use for my students because it teachers various

different ideas such as recycling, reusing, self-identity, passion, motivation, etc. This project has

very broad objectives that create the space for critical thinking while focusing on creativity and

extra sizing the ability of students to deal with such broad descriptions. Through out this project

the students will be able to experience the curriculum in relation to Teacher Credentialing,

Teaching Performance Expectations. For example the teacher is making subject matter

comprehensible to student, which is extra sized through VTS, objectives, key concepts, etc. The

studio time for this project allows student to communicate among themselves and brainstorm,

they are surrounded by effective environment which is important for creating and maintaining

student learning. When discussing National Core Arts Standards, Anchor Standards its important
to understand that creating, presenting, responding, and connecting are all important parts of the

project that need to be met. In my opinion this project is a great way to introduce the Anchor

standards to students in a creative and fun way, which will empower their critical thinking while

discussing and analyzing their experiences in life. Anchor standards are:

#1. Generate and conceptualize artistic ideas and work.

#2. Organize and develop artistic ideas and work.

#3. Refine and complete artistic work.

#4. Analyze, interpret, and select artistic work for presentation.

#5. Develop and refine artistic work for presentation.

#6. Convey meaning through the presentation of artistic work.

#7. Perceive and analyze artistic work.

#8. Interpret intent and meaning in artistic work.

#9. Apply criteria to evaluate artistic work.

#10. Synthesize and relate knowledge and personal experiences to make art.

#11. Relate artistic ideas and works with societal, cultural and historical context to

deepen understanding.
