INTRODUCTION:

Admission is a previous statement by one of the parties to a proceeding. An admission made


outside the proceedings, and which is offered to prove the truth of the assertion in the
previous representation is hearsay. Admission definition is given in s.17 to s.23 and s.31,
confession is dealt from s.24 to s.30 . It comes in both civil and criminal proceedings.
Specific rules of admissibility apply which negate reasonable doubt for the fact finder.
Confessions and admissions are distinguished at common law. Confessions are statements
which amount to admissions of actual guilt of the crime in question. Confessions involve
admissions of actual guilt of the crime, whereas admissions relate key facts which tend to
prove the guilt of the accused of such crime. The category of admissions includes relevant
