Introduction/Background

A good leader spends more time communicating than any other activity. Communication

is a daily activity for everyone, and is as important in personal relationships, as it is in any

organization. In the workplace, a person interacts with co-workers, superiors, customers, etc. It

also receives information, gives or receives instructions and coordinates with other employees.

All these tasks involve communication and relationships. Hence it is important to have good

communication in the workplace. Communication is the responsibility of every employee of the

organization. Effective communication with staff, customers, shareholders, or any person is

essential for any organization. Relationships with people are set to communicate with them

effectively; that is why it is crucial to have a well-established communication within the

organization.

Problem

The problem is that sometimes there is not a good communication between the leaders and

their employees in the organization. Lack of communication causes problems not only among

employees but more than anything, for the team as a whole.

Significance

Much of the problems within organizations are directly related to poor management of

communication between their employees. When management of the organization does not

communicate well to their employees, the information given is not clear, and the employees will

interpret the instructions in their way. When employees are left to interpret the information on

their own, it will lead to misinterpretation. That is when the problems may start. It is vital to

ensure an effective communication because it benefits the organization by having a professional

team. Strong communication gets the team involved and motivated, which is one the greatest

strengths of the organization. Sometimes the general miscommunication inaccuracies were

caused by individuals that have not been provided the guidance to be effective communicators.

Research Goal
The goal of this study is to investigate the advantages of having a good communication in

the workplace and strategize on what are the recommended forms of effective communication at

the workplace and make an intentional plan to incorporate them.

Purpose

The goal of this research is to better understand the importance of good communication

in the workplace between leaders and co-workers. Having a good communication within the

organization can be beneficial and will allow achieving the set goal.

Research Questions

1. Why is it important for any organization to have a well establish communication?

2. What are the recommendations for improving workplace communication?

3. What are the benefits of effective communication? Alternatively, What are the benefits of

proper communication training? (which one do yall think)

Literature Review and Synthesis of Evidence

Workplace communication is critical to companies because it allows companies to be

productive and operate effectively. Employees can experience an increase in morale, productivity

and commitment if they are able to communicate up and down the communication chain in an

organization (J. Lambardo). Good communication should be able to improve the attitude of the

workers of the company. Also, good communication is one in which active listening is practiced,

assertive and proactive. These basic strategies to increase communication among all the members

that work for any organization are enhanced direct communication, avoid verbal orders,

implement team building activities, have a well-established plan for solving office clashes and
understand and respect cultural difference (R. Johnson). Companies that have good

communication have a more diverse environment. When the company takes the time to train

their employees, they can avoid any miscommunication. If companies operate on an international

scale, training can help employees be more culturally diverse and in turn be more efficient on a

global scale. (

Project Plan & Methodology

The project plan and methodology we used in assembling this proposal included each

member reading and gathering various materials to help us identify the benefits of

communication in the work place. We each chose an article that best fit the information we were

looking for. We summarized and organized the information to get our point across in an

organized manner. Due to our limited time for the proposal, we will later conduct anonymous

surveys and questionnaires at several Valley businesses or organizations. These surveys and

questionnaires will ask the employees questions such as if they feel there is a lack of

communication within their group/ organization and if they feel they were adequately trained in

the best form of communication for their organization, and what they feel management or

leadership can improve on. We will then take the information, organize it, and present to their

managers to let them know how their employees feel about the communication level in the work

place. (R. Johnson).

Conclusion

In conclusion, communication is essential for an organization to function properly. Good

or effective communication can only improve the competitiveness of the organization, its

adaptation to the changing environment, facilitates the achievement of the set objectives and

goals, and meet their own needs and those of the employees. Communication can also coordinate

and control the activities and fosters a good motivation, commitment, responsibility, and

involvement and participation of its members and an excellent inclusive work environment.

Leaders and organizations need to understand that there are clear generational, cultural and many

other barriers that they need to address for effective communication within the workforces.

Potential Impact for Management and Organizational Leadership

Helping local Valley businesses and organizations pinpoint where the communication is

lacking can help boost morale and help our community thrive.
