Product Progress Assessment

Introduction and Statement of Purpose

My goal for a final product is a project that will allow me insight and real world
experience on the work of a psychiatrist. I plan to create a compilation of case
studies from my mentor, as well as an online questionnaire that will allow anyone
struggling with a mental disorder to discover what they need help with. I want to
create a project that will allow others to seek help, as well as inform them on what
they are experiencing.

Create Case Studies

Objective

By creating a compilation of case studies, I hope to gain a deeper level of

understanding on the workings of a psychiatrist. I hope to realize what a psychiatrist
looks for in a patient and how they distinguish treatment plans for each one.

Description of Process

To create case studies for my project, I must meet with Dr. Arauzo to get information
about a patient. Once I gain the information, I create a genogram depicting each
patients family status. After creating the genogram, I piece together each study and
include information about each medication used with each patient, if any was used.

Result/Conclusion
I was able to successfully gain four separate case studies that focused on mental
disorders including depression, trauma, and anxiety. These studies helped me to
discover the process that a psychiatrist follows while dealing with each patient. Each
of these case studies include, an example of an initial assessment done by the
patient before being treated, an example of each assessment done by Dr. Arauzo
while being first treated, and a genogram that describes each patients family history.

Creating an Online Questionnaire

Objective

By creating an online questionnaire, I hope to provide a link to help discover if they

may be suffering from a mental disorder, as well as provide information about each
mental disorder. This will also allow me to gain more information about each
disorder and their signs and symptoms.

Description of Process

To begin this project, I first had to narrow down the most prominent and
distinguishing symptoms for each mental disorder. I also had to list the order in
which to ask these questions, going from most descriptive to least descriptive. This
will be formatted using a more inclusive questionnaire building website, like
questionpro or a build your own website. At the end of the survey, a correlating
disorder will be listed showing a percentage of matching symptoms. Below each
disorder will be a paragraph listing information about it, as well as a link to websites
where you can seek help if needed. I will be attempting to link this survey on to my
digital portfolio, and if not possible I will be attaching a URL leading to the
questionnaire.

Result/Conclusion
I have not yet completed this project, but I will consider it a success if I can get the
information compiled in the correct order and the approval of my mentor Dr. Arauzo.
