When you are reading have you ever noticed words that connect, or
link, words and ideas in sentences? What are some of these words?
We are going to Think-Pair-Share. Think about it, Pair up with a
partner and discuss it, then be prepared to share with the class.
Students will be able to identify linking words and use them to
decipher the meaning of unknown words in the sentence

When we are reading, we will come across words such as like and
but. These words are used to link similar and different words and
ideas in a sentence. Another word for linking words, or connectors, is

word that means the same thing or something different than the rest
of the sentences?

word is (opposite or same) as whats in the rest of the
sentence.

words. If you see any, jot them down in your readers notebook.
After Workshop, I will ask students to share what they found as they
were reading.
So when we are reading and we come across connector words, we
can use them to help determine other words in the sentence through
figuring out if certain words are synonyms and antonyms.
