What is TSC?
Technical and scientific communications is a process of managing technical information in ways that
allow people to take action according to Johnson-Sheehan (2011).
What encompasses technical writing is being able to present information in the most structured
and clear way in order for the audience to interpret what is being presented to them. The context
being communicated to the audience from the author is best interpreted when it is easy to
understand. Technical writing is all about organization, structure, and communication.
Structure- Formatted in a way that that is easy to navigate and is easily properly layered
depending on the information given.
Organization- Organized depending on the context it contains and looks clean and clear.
Appeals to the eye- When looked at, all information appear neat and appeals to the reader.
Understandability- The context is easy to understand and no confusion can be made while reading
the context.
In class we discussed several examples of technical communication. The examples ranged from tweets, to
posters, even to websites. Of the examples shown in class, some were well constructed and were great
examples of technical communication, while some of them were terrible examples.
