Philosophy of Education

I believe that each child is an unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and
stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature intellectually, emotionally, physically, and
socially. I believe that the purpose of education is to install the proper knowledge and to model
appropriate values into the lives of children in order for them to be able to use their experiences
to begin to mold character and shape their future. All children learn differently and at different
rates. I believe that each child has the potential to bring something unique and special to the
world. It is my responsibility and desire to help each child find motivation and develop the
appropriate skills and necessities towards becoming the person God created them to be.. Better
than a thousand days of diligent study is one day with a great teacher.
In order to maintain evidence of student learning, I plan to administer pre-assessment
tools to gather data for my students in order to plan for my instructional methods to follow. I will
continue to keep ongoing data for each student in my classroom through observations, anecdotal
notes, and individual work time in order to note progress throughout the year according to our
standards and goals. I will also incorporate various types of formative assessment tools to
monitor progress on a daily basis and to take notes of what the students are understanding and
what may need to be taught again. I plan to assess the students based upon the completion of
specific tasks along with attention to attitude and specific goals and criteria outlined on rubrics. I
will assess the students according to their individual rates of development as he/she strives to do
his/ her very best work.
I believe that it is important for all my students to experience love, respect, and
encouragement in the classroom. I will model these values constantly in my words and actions. I
want my students to realize the significance of the environment around them and the importance
of Gods amazing grace.. I want my students to understand the why and the importance of why
we are learning what we are instead of just making sure they learn it to pass a test. My lessons
will be taught in which doing what is necessary to have the student succeed recognizing the
diversity in my classroom. I want my classroom to be an open classroom where my students
feel comfortable talking and praying with me.
My goal is for my students to develop a passion for learning and letting their education be
a way to live out their dreams and fulfilling Gods purpose for them. It is honestly a blessing and
a dream of mine to be able to teach in a Christian environment where I can partner with fellow
teachers and parents to educate and nurture children. I know that my own learning experiences
will continue to grow and to mature throughout my career. It is important to me as a teacher to
constantly be perfecting my craft. I plan to continue my learning as a professional in my field by
contributing to grade level and team meetings within my school, collaborating with my
colleagues and principal, and by attending various conference and workshops that incorporate
best practices and strategies to integrate within my teaching.
