III. Circumstance of the Referral
The client was apprehended last June 25, 2016, at the house of her sister live-in
partner at 31-D Roxas Boulevard Davao City. On July 15, 2016, the client was detained
in Ma-a City Jail and later, he was transferred on August 11, 2016, in DCTRCDD for
custodial care and rehabilitation.

IV. PROBLEM PRESENTED

The clients drug addiction causes him to feel more depressed and became
aggressive towards other people.

V. HISTORY OF THE PROBLEM

At the age of 11 years old, he was exposed to vices like smoking a cigarette and
using rugby as an inhalant. He also joins gangs and riots in their community. He was led
in this circumstances because he wanted to survive in the society because her mother
sold her siblings and abandoned them, including the client. When the client encountered
her sister, she invited him to go to the house of her live-in partner, which is a drug user.
Her sisters live-in partner gave him a free sample of marijuana and shabu until he
became addicted to it and use it every afternoon.
One day, the client and his friend were the only people in the house. The client was
sleeping in the living room until two (2) police officer knock the door and asked if there
are people in there. One of the police officers barged his way in and tried to wake up the
client and the other officer guard the entrance of the house. He was pretending to sleep
because he remembered the warning of the live-in partner of her sister that he must not
open his eyes and pretend to sleep if the police officer tries to wake him up. The police
become impatient and took his gun and point it at the clients head to threaten him. The
client was scared thats why he cooperated with the police. He was arrested on June
25, 2016, and detained at the Ma-a City Jail on July 15, 2016. Later, he was transferred
to the DCTRCDD on August 11, 2016, for his rehabilitation treatment.

VI. BACKGROUND INFORMATION

A. Clients Information
At the age of 10 years old, the clients mother put them in the care of their
grandparents and his uncle in Relocation, Davao City. His uncles son doesnt want
them to live with them so, he bullies the client and his sister by shouting at them and
make them do difficult chores in the house. One night, the client and her sister decided
to flee from the house and went to Ecoland in search for a living. They saw a local
eatery and begged to provide them food to sustain their hunger. The owner of the local
eatery decided to bring them to DSWD to find their parents and they have contacted
their mother, she immediately brings them home. They went to Mati because his mother
told them that she will meet up a friend. But he was left there in the next day. He
decided to help fisherman carry their fish to earn money for his transportation in Davao
City. When he went back, his relatives are shocked to see him because his mother told
them that he was stabbed by a group of people and died. Her mother asked donations
from them and from DSWD for his funeral. His mother found him and immediately. He
realized that he was being used by his mother to earn money and use a faade to trick
him.
After a few days, her mother decided to sell them for a good price from the family in
Shrine Hill, Matina, Davao City. They were beaten by them if they commit mistakes, so
he decided to flee from them. He walks aimlessly until he reached San Pedro church
and be a beggar to ask food or money or he will just search food in the garbage to quell
his hunger. Sometimes, he also guards a car and he will be paid five (5) pesos. Every
night he keeps suffering from his negative thought thats why he always thinks that he is
a failure as a human being. That time, he started to inhale rugby and joining riots with
his new friends. When he met his cousin, he teaches him how to drive sikad and make
it out as his living. One day, he was astonished to see her sister at the church and they
enjoyed their reunion together. Her sister asked the client if she wanted to live with her
at the house of her live-in partner at the Boulevard and he agreed.

B. Family Information
The client describes her Mother as an unreliable person and doesnt have a
sense of responsibility as a parent. He doesnt know his father because whenever he
asked his mother about it, she began to avoid the question and she told him that his
father died. His mother will treat them nicely if the client and her sister will contribute a
money for her, but if they didnt do it, their mother will treat them harshly. The client is
very fond of Nicole, which is the younger sister. Ardulfo died at the early stage of his life
due to his illness. Angelou is the youngest of the family was sold by the clients mother
to gain money and use it for gambling and buy illegal drugs.
In terms of decision making, the clients mother is the one who decides what the
best for the family. In terms of financial, her mother is the one who provides but when
the client and her sister flee from home, her sister and her live-in partner provide for
their financial needs.

C. Community Information
 The client live at the heart of the city where all people present from different walks of
life. Their community is also exposed in different kinds of vices and illegal drugs are
very rampant. Basic facilities available in the community including the school, church,
and a clean water system. The hospital is not available in the area. The community is
also prone to gangs that's why riot is very common in their place.

VII. ASSESSMENT
This is a case of a 17 years old who violated R.A. 9165 section 15 which is the
use of dangerous drugs. He was abandoned by her mother thats why he keeps
suffering from the problems of life that lead him to be depressed. He had encountered
many hardships in life at his early stage. He keeps blaming himself because of all the
misfortune that he has encountered until now .The lack of guidance and emotional
support from his parents especially his mother contributes the greatest factor in his
situation.
The theory that may apply in this situation is Psychodynamic theory by Sigmund
Freud. Psychoanalysts historically believed that depression was caused by anger
converted into self-hatred ("anger turned inward"). A typical scenario regarding how this
transformation was thought to play out may be helpful is further explaining this theory.
Neurotic parents who are inconsistent (both overindulgent and demanding), lacking in
warmth, inconsiderate, angry, or driven by their own selfish needs create an
unpredictable, hostile world for a child. As a result, in this case, the client feels alone,
confused, helpless and ultimately, angry. However, the client also knows that the
powerful parents are his or her only means of survival. So, out of fear, love, and guilt,
the child represses anger toward the parents and turns it inwards so that it becomes an
anger directed towards himself. That is the main reason why the client decided to take
up and use illegal drugs because he is prone to experiencing exaggerated anxiety
and/or depression feelings.

VIII. INTERVENTION PLAN

IX. RECOMMENDATION
The client has potentials to discover and enhance his innate potentials for him to be
a productive and better individual in the society. He is talented he has the ability to
adopt changes in his environment. Thus, I highly recommend pursuing his treatment
and rehabilitation program set in DCTRCDD for him to improve his skills, potentials, and
help him renew his well-being while waiting for the release order of the court.
 X. TERMINATION
The clients termination at the center is not yet possible because he must finish the
rehabilitation program that the center provided for him. The social work intern and the
client will conclude the session because the goals for the client has been attained. The
clients case will be transferred to a social worker who will continue his rehabilitation
program in the center.
