ASWSUV SENATOR
Responsibility: All Senators shall serve as liaisons between the Associated Student Body and the
Officers and Cabinet.

Duties: All Senators shall have and exercise the following duties and powers:
A. Regularly attend Senate meetings. Meetings are held every two weeks during fall and spring semesters.
B. Inform the Vice President or Senator Pro-Tempore of an absence prior to the Senate meeting thus having
an excused absence. 
a. Two (2) unexcused absences will be grounds for dismissal from office. 
b. At the time of the second unexcused absence, the seat will become immediately open for
applications. 
C. Sit on at least one (1) standing committee; and 
a. Regularly attend meetings of that/those committees. 
b. Exercise duties given within assigned committee. 
D. Perform any duty deemed necessary by the ASWSUV Officers, Senate, Constitution, and By-Laws. 
E. Report to the Senator Pro-Tempore and the ASWSUV Vice President. 
 
Expectations: The following are expected of ASWSUV Senators:
A. Tabling
a. Two hours of tabling during office hours per month.
B. Represent ASWSUV at events
a. Support the work that we are doing and model positive behavior for students.
C. Participate in meetings
a. You have been elected to represent student needs and interests. Share these interests with the
group.
D. Act professionally
a. You are no longer just a student; you are now a student leader. Model professional behavior at all
times.
b. Act professionally in the office. Others are depending on you, so complete assignments and
respond to communications in a timely manner.

Requirements: Members of the Senate must be members of ASWSUV, and must be enrolled in at
least six (6) graded semester hours per semester, and must be in good academic
standing with the University, maintaining no less than a 2.0 GPA.

Term: Senators shall hold office from commencement to commencement or until their
duly elected successors take office.

Salary: The ASWSUV Constitution specifies salaries for senators shall be in the amount
of ten percent (10%) of undergraduate tuition, not to exceed four hundred dollars
($400) per semester to be paid at the end of each semester.

Hours: Senators shall contribute two (3) hours per week to his/her duties. Posted office
hours shall be two (3) hours per week.
