JOB SUMMARY:

The Controller provides effective financial leadership for the business to grow
responsibly in a profitable and sustainable manner, manages the financial
functions of the business, directs staff to attain company goals and maintain
timely and accurate financial reporting, ensures adequacy of internal controls as
the business steward and advises all levels of management.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Coordinate the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, and


supporting analyses (both defined and ad hoc), along with meaningful
commentary to explain results to various levels within the
organization. Ensures that financial reporting requirements to Duracell,
Berkshire Hathaway and internal deadlines and criteria are met.
Ensure compliance with Duracells Standard Practice Instructions, Sarbanes
Oxley internal controls, and FCPA. Ensures that financial and IT SOX
documentation in maintained in a current manner. Coordinates and
supports internal/external audits.
Oversee and modify for optimum efficiency and effectiveness the financial
processes and supporting information systems of the business including
budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Ensure compliance with Berkshire Hathaway, Duracell, local, state and federal
reporting requirements.
Ensure that company general ledger, fixed asset, payroll, customer billing,
accounts receivable, payables, inventory systems and routines operate
effectively and efficiently.
Manage and govern trade spending by customer and program in alignment with
annual budget / forecast.
Provide general supervision and management of the day-to-day financial affairs
of the company.
Coordinate and prepare annual budget and monthly & quarterly forecast
updates as required.
Ensure financial targets are established at the appropriate lowest level and are
well understood by the management team and provide at least monthly
updates via presentations to the management team of performance versus
budget, forecast and prior year.
Develop growth and savings initiatives and track performance monthly to
ensure targets are achieved.

Interact with the management team to provide consultative support for


business improvement initiatives through financial and management
information analyses, reports and recommendations.
Ensure financial records & systems are maintained in accordance with
generally accepted accounting principles.
Develop and direct the implementation of strategic business and/or operational
plans, projects, programs and systems.
Be an 80/20 champion for the business.
Supervise and mentor the department staff and make changes as needed to
develop the strength of the team.
Analyze cash flow, cost controls and expenses to guide business
leaders. Analyze financial statements to pinpoint potential weak areas and
develop solutions.
Establish and implement short and long range departmental goals, objectives,
policies and operating procedures.
Prepares Federal and State Tax packages and information requests for
Corporate.
Provides financial analysis and trends, including customer and product
profitability, quad analysis, capital expenditures, productivity, etc.
Measure and manage working capital performance.

Qualifications
EDUCATIONAL/JOB EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles


including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in a manufacturing
environment.

Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems and


experience streamlining reporting for more efficient and effective results.

Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and
projections.

Experience in strategic planning and execution.

Knowledge of contracting, negotiating and change management.

Work requires strong professional written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes


and simultaneously manage several projects.

Strong presentation skills.


Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.

Supervisory experience and strong influential management skills and


interpersonal skills with a customer-service mindset a must.

Minimum ten years of experience in a progression of accounting/financial


positions.

Bachelors degree in Accounting required. Masters Degree in Finance or


Accounting / MBA preferred.

CPA or CMA preferred.

Audit experience preferred.

Requires willingness to work extended hours during times of heavy workload


(e.g. quarter close & budget).
