LEGISLATIVE BREAKFAST BY JULIANNE M. AND PAULA B.

A group of us went to the Legislative Breakfast in Hartford, CT at the

Legislative Building. There were a lot of speakers from different club
houses. They all dont want their clubs to close.
Our main speaker was Kevin T. It was important
that he spoke about what would happen if our club
closed. There were a lot of state legislators
present.

CHRISTINE D.

I grew up in Bridgeport, CT. in foster care. I took the GED Test and passed
it when I was 17. After that, I went to Connecticut Business Institute, and
I got a job as a secretary.
I got married shortly after that. I attended Norwalk Community Technical
College, while there I worked in the mall. I started out with a small part
time job and was promoted to the store manager in an employee owned
company. I flew on an airplane for important business meetings. Then
when I was 20 years old, my mother became ill, and my marriage started
to fall apart. So that is when I moved to the Valley, to Spooner House and I
got involved with BHcare Services. I was diagnosed with depression. Since
then I started getting better. Now I have a bright future. The Club has
changed my life, and I care about my friends.

KEEP THE PROMISE BY PAULA B.

Some of the DSS proposed budget are if you are on both Medicare and
Medicare title 19, you will be required to pay more for your
prescriptions because the $17.00 cap would be eliminated.
Info about Renters Rebate Program:
I asked Maura about this program, she said to apply sooner rather than
later because if you wait too long to apply, there might not be any
money left.
There are about 2,000 new bills being introduced into congress. We will
see what has passed and what hasn't

ROBERTS CORNER!
Author Celia Thaster, submitted by Robert S.
Across the narrow beach we flit, one little
sandpiper and I.
And fast I gather bit by bit the scattered driftwood, bleached
and dry.
The wild waves reach their hands for it.
The wild wind raves, the tides run high, as up and down the
beach we flit, one little sandpiper and I.

DONT CLOSE OUR LIBRARIES BY JOHN L.

I have been a loyal library goer for over 30 years. I use the library
for taking out books and using the computer. I also like the
Liberians because they are nice people. If they close my library,
people like me will not have the use of a computer, since I can not
afford to buy one on my income. People will be bored because
they will not have a place to go to read books or look on line for
stuff. I have made friends there too. I probably would not see
them much around this town if the library was gone. I feel even
smarter because its a place to get information on what is going
on in my town. I also get to rent books, music cds, movies, and
read newspapers. I save money not buying new hard cover books
too. People who use the local library might not be able to ride a
bus or drive their car to another town for all kinds of reasons.
I would hate to think what else the Governor would target next
like our club. Vocational help, housing, CLRP, and Medicare/
Medicaid services. I think we would all be in big trouble. Maybe
some would be in jail, hospitals, nursing homes, and homeless. I
worry for our future.

GEORGE LOGAN WILL BE OUR hear what he has to say.
