readme.txt for EASE 2.

The enclosed catalog.lsp file has been created for use in EASE.
Case shape is also included in the dataset.
This data has been extrapolated from high-resolution complex
polar data acquired in Meyer Sound's anechoic chamber located
in Berkeley, California.

This extrapolated data is equivalent to measuring a loudspeaker

being driven with an octave band of pink noise within an
anechoic environment, and placing a Sound Level Meter at a given
distance (such as 4 meters) and taking measurements every ten
degrees around its effective acoustic center point. SPL is
based on 2.0E-5 Pascal reference.

Placing the Meyer Sound data into your EASE Program

Using either Windows Explorer, or the DOS md command from a

DOS prompt, add a "Meyer" subdirectory to the following path:
c:\EASE21\SPEAKERS. Copy over the catalog.lsp file into
the new "Meyer" directory.

LSP Data

The Isobar data in EASE was modified by Meyer Sound only to smooth
the -6dB and -9dB patterns as recommended by Dr. Ahnert of ADA.
None of the -3dB points were adjusted. This data was calculated
by EASE once the interpolated data sets were complete.

Relative levels were set to zero in order for the Draw Base
function to show a flat frequency response when looking at
polar data. Because our controller based loudspeaker systems
remain linear, we chose to keep the relative levels at a 0dB.
This value does not affect the predictions within the program
in any way beyond the frequency response shown in the Draw Base
function.

Sensitivity and Power are based on the maximum one octave peak
SPL each loudspeaker will produce at 1k Hz without limiting.
All other octave bands; 125, 500, 2k, 4k and 8k were adjusted
so that the maximum SPL would not to exceed this level.
This was done since a loudspeaker system's frequency response
becomes non-flat when reaching peak power if each of the octave
band's sensitivities were different. 8kHz and 125Hz have been
adjusted -3dB sensitivity to taper the bandwidth in order to show
the more accurate power curve. This curve is maintained when
maximum power is reached in EASE.
Locating a loudspeaker within EASE and using Case Shapes

When a loudspeaker is added to the prediction model,

the effective acoustic center is the single
point entered into EASE when positioning the device.
The case shape is based upon this acoustic center point.

"Predicting Meyer Sound Self-powered Loudspeaker Performance".
We strongly recommend reviewing this Technical Paper prior to
working with our self-powered loudspeaker data in
EASE.
