Esercizio n.1
1. We are sorry we cannot accept your quotation of 3rd April. If you are open to quote
prices which compare favourably with the ones quoted by your competitors, we
shall not fail to pass you a big order.
2. In connection with the terms of payment you stated in your quotation of 25th last,
we would ask you, unless you have any objection, to grant us to pay one third on
placing the order, balance by draft at 60 days from receipt of the goods.
3. We note with regret that the prices you quote are very high in comparison with the
average quality of your products. A discount of 15% would give us a minimum
margin of profit. Unless you are prepared to grant us such a discount, we cannot
go any further.
4. We have examined your terms of sale and are afraid we cannot agree with the
date of delivery. As we are going to start sales by the 15th of January, would you
mind delivering a week before this date?

5. We are afraid we cannot accept your terms of payment. As we are going to handle
large quantities of goods, we should like you to allow us 15% discount for orders of
5,000 or more.
6. We regret having to tell you that the prices you quoted allow us only a very low
margin of profit. Perhaps you could grant us some concession relating to dispatch
charges, if we place orders over 500.
Esercizio n.2
fornitori.
acquisti in blocco?
contanti all'ordine.

Dear Mr Forth,
We thank you for your quotation and regret having to tell you
hereby that the prices you quote are rather high if compared
with your competitors'.
Should we accept them, our margin of profit would be almost
insignificant. Therefore, unless you are prepared to cut them
by 15%, we shall be obliged to turn down your offer and apply
to other suppliers.
The quality of the patterns you sent us does not appear to be
better or more original in colour or design. There is no reason,
in fact, why our customers should prefer your products which
are more expensive than the ones offered by your competitors.
We advise you, therefore, to consider whether it is more
convenient for you to operate the reduction we suggest.
Looking forward to your prompt reply, we are,
Yours sincerely,
David Moore

Dear Sirs,
We are obliged for your letter of April 8th quoting for 500
copies of The Concise Scots Dictionary published by Aberdeen
University Press at 15 each, but regret that at this price we
cannot place an order.
You realize that what you offer is a paperback edition released
in 1985 with no reprints ever since. In consideration of this, we
should be ready to pay no more than 12.50 per copy.
As regards payment, we can effect it cash on delivery or, if you
prefer, we will remit according to your instructions.

Thank you very much for your quotation of June 2nd last.
We have carefully examined your terms of payment and,
unless you are prepared to revise them, we regret we cannot
go any further.
As we are going to place large repeat orders for over 500,000,
we wonder whether you would mind allowing us quarterly
payments on open account terms.
