Course Objectives
The phenomenal growth of information technology usage in almost all types of organizations has created
dramatic change in methods and procedures, in information collection and dissemination techniques, in
management control processes, and in decision making activities.
This introductory course helps students appreciate the basic concepts of computers and their operating
systems, and the capabilities and limitations of computers for managerial decision making.The course
also provides basic concepts of Information Systems (IS), planning for IS, strategies and approaches to IS
implementation, managing security issues and future trends in IS, integrating information systems to
create sustainable competitive advantage.
