Procedure:

Cocoa process:

1. The cocoa beans are cleaned to remove all extraneous material

2. The cocoa beans are cleaned to remove all extraneous material

3. The cocoa beans is roasted to bring out chocolate flavour and colour.

4. Separate the cocoa seed and cocoa shell by using a winnowing machine.

5. The cocoa seed is used for making chocolate, while we used the cocoa shell which is by
product of chocolate as fertilizer.

6. The cocoa shell is dry out under the sun.

7. Packs the cocoa shell into plastic bag and sealed

Method to use cocoa shell as fertilizer to the plant:

1. Clear the planting area from weeds and put down the cocoa shell to a depth of 5cm.

2. The cocoa shell spread by hand to the planting area.

3. Spread evenly the cocoa shell then lightly tamped down.

4. Soak thoroughly with fine spray of water. This will active the natural gum binds the shells
together to form a loosely knitted porous mat. This mat allow the water through, bulbs to grow
through, plant to expand, prevent weeds from coming up, and reduces water evaporating from
the soil surface.

5. A covering 1-2 can be topped up semi-anually with smaller quantities to maintain weed
control and soil quality.
