April is here and (hopefully) that means the warm weather isnt too far
behind. And I for one cannot wait! And of course with April comes Easter.
Many people think that Christmas is the most important day in the Catholic
liturgical calendar, but from the earliest days of the Church, Easter has been
considered the central Christian feast. As Saint Paul wrote in Corinthians, "If
Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in
vain." Without Easterwithout the Resurrection of Christthere would be
no Christian Faith. Christ's Resurrection is the proof of His Divinity. Easter is
not only the greatest Christian feast; it is the fulfillment of our faith as
Christians. Through His Death, Christ destroyed our bondage to sin; through His Resurrection, He
brought us the promise of new life, both in Heaven and on earth. His own prayer, "Thy Kingdom
come, on earth as it is in Heaven," begins to be fulfilled on Easter Sunday. Easter is a day of
celebration because it represents the fulfillment of our faith as Christians. St. Paul wrote that,
unless Christ rose from the dead, our faith is in vain. Through his death, Christ saved mankind from
bondage to sin, and He destroyed the hold that death has on all of us; but it is His Resurrection
that gives us the promise of new life, both in this world and the next. That new life began on Easter
Sunday. With the resurrection of Christ, God's Kingdom is established on earth, in the form of the
Church. On behalf of my wife Jessica and myself, I would like to wish you all a very Happy and
Blessed
Easter! Vivat Jesus!!

Im Going to Keep My Baby'

Supreme knight attends blessing of the newest machine donated through the
Knights of Columbus Ultrasound Initiative.
A week prior to the feast of the Annunciation, Supreme Knight Carl Anderson
attended the blessing of a mobile ultrasound unit donated to A Womans Haven,
a pro-life pregnancy center in San Antonio. Archbishop Gustavo Garca-Siller
of San Antonio blessed the mobile ultrasound unit. Attending the ceremony with
Supreme Knight Anderson were Supreme Director Javier Martinez, Texas State
Deputy Douglas Oldmixon, General Agent Steve Michlik of the Michlik
Agency and San Antonio Diocesan Deputy Derek Rabey.
The donation was arranged by St. Mark the Evangelist Council 7613 in San
Antonio, alongside the fundraising efforts of Poth Council 2618, New Braunfels
Council 4183, St. Josephs at Honey Creek Council 8521 and St. Rose of Lima
Council 11599. Meanwhile, encouraged by this program, A Womans Haven
raised the money to purchase a Save the Storks mobile ultrasound van.
Eddie Perez, president of A Womans Haven and member of Council 8521 in
Bulverde, said, Because of this mobile pregnancy center, we anticipate that the
number of women we serve will grow to approximately 2,000 on a yearly
basis.
Darlene Balenger, a nurse practitioner at A Womans Haven, told Mr. Anderson that the new machine has already saved a life.
She told me that the first pregnant woman to use the machine had said her mind was made up she was going to have an abortion,
Supreme Knight Anderson related. But then she had the ultrasound, and as she watched the screen, she looked up at the nurse and said,
Im going to keep my baby.
Since 2009, state and local councils have teamed up with the Supreme Council for the Orders Ultrasound Initiative, funding more than 760
ultrasound machines for pro-life pregnancy care centers throughout all 50 states, Canada, Guatemala, Jamaica and Peru. Recently, the
Supreme Council also began offering funding for ultrasound machines used in mobile medical units.
The supreme knight expressed hope that the ultrasound machines will help pregnant women decide to keep their babies. We
conservatively estimate that these machines will save the lives of at least 100,000 unborn children this year alone. And these machines will
go on saving lives for years to come, he said. A Womans Haven has been serving women experiencing crisis pregnancies since 2007.
The agency is a 501c non-profit organization that will serve anyone regardless of their age, race, citizenship status or religion. To learn
more about A Womans Haven, please visit AWomansHaven.org

initiative and other pro-life causes, visit kofc.org/prolife.

COLUMBIETTES CORNER
WE CARE - WE SHARE

Dear Sister Columbiettes,

We will be happy to welcome spring; flowers, trees budding, and warmer weather. I am sure we are
still in for crazy weather surprises.

The Knight at the races, corned beef and cabbage and shepherds pie were great! The cooks outdid themselves,
and Vinny makes the night fun and exciting. Thank you all so much.

The next day, the Knights and sister Columbiettes marched in the St. Patricks parade. Past President, Grace
McGloine and I marched behind, carrying our banner. We were rewarded back at the council with a repast and
great camaraderie with lots of laughs. We talked and solved all lifes events.

April 2nd is our Victorian tea and Chinese Auction. We have made 140 baskets with the wonderful donations
our members brought in. They also solicited many gift certificates. Great job by Joann Brandi and her team of
elves who worked tirelessly wrapping, pricing and doing the millions of tasks that go into running this event.

The next step is baking, making sandwiches and those millions of tasks for that part of the event.

We are still on our Lenten journey. St. Francis has meatless soups and bread on Fridays followed by the
Stations of the Cross. Please pray the Rosary every day, it is a most powerful weapon. Never be hurried by
anything. Do all things calmly and in the spirit of repose. Do not lose your inward peace even if everything
seems to be going wrong. What is anything in life compared to a peaceful soul.
