The Board Game Group is a wonderfully inclusive group of tabletop gamers who have banded together
on Facebook. Originating in the dark corner of a Yahtzee box, this group slowly evolved until it became
the living, vibrant community it is today. We may not be the largest group on Facebook, but we pride
ourselves on our shared sense of support and a competitive, but friendly, nature.

We focus on the positive aspects of socialization, gameplay, and lives of our gamers. We watch out for
each other, be it for a long sought after game, a rules clarification, sharing the excitement when open-
ing a new game for the first time, or finding somewhere or someone to game with. When you roll with
TBG, you know we've got your back if you roll a natural 1 in your gaming life. Join us on our adven-
tures! You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll probably end up spending way too much money on games, but you
won't be bored or alone. Bottom line is, everything board game related is accepted.

ombie games are everywhere. Since the airing of AMCs

The Walking Dead, Zombie games have been released with increasing
frequency. From Dice rolling to collect brains, to 8 hour events of
fighting off attacks and trying to complete quests in Dead of Winter.
There is no doubt this theme is going to be around for a long time.
As with any genre or play style Zombie games are not for everyone
or for every game group. First, a love of the Theme is a must. Second,
you cant get frustrated easy. Third, accept that every game is this
category is designed for one thing and one thing only. To kill, and eat
the brains of survivors.
Having a very good game group is always key to having a
fun time playing any kind of game. With Zombie games it helps if every
player gets immersed in the experience and tries to imagine actually
escaping another night of Zombie attacks.

Must read over a few times
Fair warning: Im a huge fan of the Zombicide franchise, since the first season, and the Rue Morgue
expansion is the best yet. For those unfamiliar, Zombicide is a turned based co-op of the zombie
apocalypse theme like the original campy George Ramero movies and Army of Darkness. With the
right group, your players inhabit the characters and make decisions based on motivation rather
than the optimal move. Moreover, given the relative simplicity of the rules and the co-op aspects

stance, your secret objective might be to horde multiple cans of gasoline. This is all
well and good as you have three cans of gasoline in your hand, but the crisis this
round is a shortage of gasoline and you are the last person to go in this round.
What do you do? Do you sacrifice your gasoline for the benefit of the colony this
round in hope to garner enough to continue on in the next or do you allow the crisis
to fail, certainly hindering everyone for the rest of the game but perhaps securing your personal win. This is where I have come to simply
adore this game. The decisions you have to make can truly make or break the game. One simply move of a survivor from the Colony to
any location could destroy chances of survival if you roll a bite on the exposure die. But that move might be necessary to continue the very
survival of your characters. This game hinders on the players interacting with one another throughout the game and working with each
other and at the same time one may be against all of them. This is a game of timing. If you make your goal too quickly, you may trigger
the other players to exile you which you may or may not want to do. If you wait too long to try to make your secret objective, you might
just simply run out of time and everyone may end up losing.
In the end it is a delicate balance saving the last survivors Dead of Winter: A Crossroad Game it may come down to you, or them. The
game shines with four players and the production value is very good except for the exposure die, that die is evil. The game has been
compared to Battlestar Galactica many times, for good reasons. But Dead of Winter can play four easily, whereas Battlestar Galactica
is best with six. Overall, if you want to have a gripping time saving a little part of the world all while juggling lives in the balance of your
own personal ambitions and gains, the this game will certainly be a game worth looking into. The social aspect alone will be worth it all.

I have been heavily into Video games for most of my life. You name it I most likely have played or owned

people playing on online PC game. This show made me fall in Love with Felicia Day (who wouldnt). I
bring that up because I was getting tired of sitting at home playing video games all night and I needed

You may enter for each one. One time only per reader.
Posts must be made in the Official Board Game Monthly Contest Thred
Entry does not gurantee a prize only the Wheel can decide that.
If you are not at Gen Con we have another contest for you in this issue.

How it works?
Every issue we will run a contest. We will choose any product,
company, or service we think is awesome or amazing for
our hobby and that companys name and prize we choose
will go on the Wheel of Giveaway.

Then if your post or photo is chosen your name gets put

on the Wheel for that prize you posted or tweeted about.

We will spin the wheel via live broadcast and one winner
will be chosen.

The winning *Item and Name will be removed from the

Wheel and replaced by another. Prizes are shipped and
everyone does the **happy dance!

Your name stays on until you win a prize!

Wheel of LOOT
The more sponsors we get the possibility of more spins per
issue could happen!

Right now you could win an amazing prize from any of

those companies who are at Gen Con. This month the
prize is sponsored by Board Game Monthly!

*Winning prizes may change due to availabilty for an equal value prize
**dancing is not required for winning

UPCOMING SHOWS AND CONS
August 7-9, 2015 at the Austin Marriott South
After Gen Con TBG Members will converge on the Live Music Capital
of Texas! There will be plenty of BBQ and Board Games for everyone!
From 6th Street, to the Salt Lick BBQ joint, Austin is a great city to visit. Plenty of parks and
trails to stretch your legs after a marathon game event. Known for its Food Trucks and
Concept Restaurants there is plenty of food to eat when you get hungry. My friend swears by
Guss Fried Chicken at 117 San Jacinto Blvd in Downtown. Game shops galore! From the
Emerald Tavern in North Austin to Tribe Comics & Games there are plenty of places to
explore for a visiting gamer. Also check out pinballzarcade.com for a sweet
retro pinball arcade about 10 minutes from Downtown and close to Emerald Tavern!
It is also home to the BEST Craft Beers in all of Texas. Thirsty Planet beer is a must try for
any visitor, I recommend the Yellow Armadillo. See you there!
