To Whom It May Concern:

It is with great pleasure and honor that I am writing this letter of recommendation for Kevin Pineda. In the
past four years, I have gotten to know and worked closely with Kevin. I previously taught Kevin for my CAHSEE
Prep and AVID/seminar courses since his sophomore year. Since then, I have worked closely with Kevin in The
College Initiative Program, a college and career preparatory program. Based on my experience working with
Kevin, I am confident in saying that he is a young man full of drive, determination and creativity needed to be
successful in the 21st century.
Since meeting Kevin, I have witnessed his determination to fulfill and accomplish his dreams and
aspirations. While working closely with Kevin during his sophomore year, he stood out as someone who was
willing to go above and beyond to get the work done with the highest quality. He constantly asks questions to
better his work and show mastery and quality in his work. Kevin is an individual who collaborates well with others;
his peers constantly turn to him for help and support. He has the uncanny ability to relate to others and show an
immense amount of respect to adults. Academically, he has excelled by challenging himself to take courses that
require 21st century learning skills. He is in the top 10% of our school and has maintained a 3.8 G.P.A. all while
taking concurrent courses at our local Santa Ana Community College and Concordia University.
Kevin is also part of a cohort of 24 seniors at NOVA Academy ECHS that is a part of the College
Initiative Program. He has participated and dedicated an average of 2-3 hours per week outside of classroom time;
he has completed mini-lessons revolving around college and career prep and completed study hours covering
ACT and SAT prep. I witnessed Kevins determination in maximizing his resources at our school to better
prepare him for college and eventually, a career that he would be most happy in.
Kevin has demonstrated his natural commitment and leadership to his passions. Since freshmen year, he
has dedicated numerous hours to community service. He has volunteered as an assistant at OCEAA; here he
helped children excel in their mathematical and language art skills. In addition, he has helped clean up our local
beaches to maintain a clean and safe environment for animals and humans. At last, he has served as a food servant
to help prepare the program for upcoming attendees and assisted with serving food to our local community
members at a local church. His dedication, enthusiasm and commitment to our school and communitys culture
is a testament to the honest and devoted individual that Kevin represents.
The academics at NOVA Academy Early College High School encourage students to master all their
coursework material. Despite these high standards, Kevin has been successful and has prioritized his education to
earn his high school diploma and earn college credit. I am immensely proud to have been his teacher and mentor
and I am confident that he will continue to accomplish many more milestones in his college and career.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration. Please let me know if you have any additional
