*Assisting installing and disassembling scaffolding.

Job Description:

*As the job title implies, the primary responsibilities of the oil
rig motorman is to keep the engines that power the drilling
equipment and some of the other rig equipment working
smoothly. For example, engines are used to lift drilling pipe, turn
the rotary table that turns the drill bit, and for mixing and
circulating drilling fluid like mud.

* The lower level roustabouts and roughnecks may be


promoted to this position eventually. As with any other position on
the rig, motorhands must be able to work fast and efficiently yet
safely and within company and industry guidelines.

Responsibilities:

Roughneck

Job Description:

*The roughneck position is a promotion from a roustabout. The


duties of a roughneck on the oil rig is to be the main laborers that
is the heart to the whole operation. Roughneck main duty is to
carry out the majority of the drilling. This position is under the
direction the driller.

*Roughneck are responsible for assembling and disassembling


drilling equipment. They are also in charge of transporting the
equipment. In addition, a roughneck has to make sure the all
drilling equipment is in order.

Responsibilities:

*Responsible to handling tubular during tripping and drilling.

*Always check the rig floor equipment during normal drilling.

*Maintain house keeping around the rig site.


*Assist the derrick man to fix the mud pump and mix mud
materials.

Derrick man

Job Description:
*This process is referred to as "tripping" and occurs frequently so that
bits can be replaced or to retrieve broken equipment from the hole and
for other reasons. A derrickman, who essentially reports up to the
driller, may also oversee some of the machinery on the rig.

*Derrickman spend up to 25% of their time on the "monkey board," which is a platform
high up in the rig's derrick. So if you're afraid of heights this job isn't for you. Working
from the monkey board the derrickman plays a lead role in stacking the drill pipe as it is
tripped out or guiding the pipe as it is reconnected to the pipe string when tripped back
into the hole.

*Tripping is not something that occurs every minute of every day, so derrickman, have
other responsibilities. They may play a key role in operating the mud system, mixing the
mud, assisting the driller, doing equipment upkeep, and taking on other jobs as needed.

Responsibilities:

*Maintain the drilling fluid and density during drilling.

*Monitor the dynamic losses and communicate to the driller during normal drilling.
*Responsible to prepare and mix mud material when the loss circulating.

*Work on monkey board while during tripping.

*Responsible the pipe during tripping.
