OilSpy - Membrane hydrocarbons detector

Membrane
Principle
This OilSpy membrane is the sensor of the detector.
When the membrane comes into contact with a thin oil layer floating on
the surface of the water, the membrane dissolves and tears like a fuse.

influences.
Recommended operating time: 6 months.
Storage time in its package hermetically closed: 1 year.
Interchangeable membrane delivered in a pack of ten (light-tight box).

Slide
The slide is used with the explosion proof hydrocarbons membrane holder OilSpy. It allows the use of the membrane
holder in space restricted sites with variable water level:
- decantation basin
- collector
- output canal
- aqueduct.

The detector is attached to a floating assembly and guided vertically.

The slide is made of the floating assembly (2 floats, 2 plates), 2 guides and 2 mountings. The floating assembly can be lifted
by using the oil detector cable.

Specifications
Water level variation: +/- 70 cm around a medium level in a 2 meters standard version
(other lengths available upon request),
Material: Stainless steel
Fixation: By way of 2 mountings, high and low,
option: 100 kg ballast (recommanded when access to the lower mounting is difficult)

River and Basin Buoy

The basin buoy is a mounting’s option of the OilSpy hydrocarbons
membrane holder. The oil spill detection system is always placed
in contact with the water surface.

The design makes this buoy well adapted to moving water such
as rivers or basins:
- 3 floats at 120° allowing a good stability of the OilSpy detector,
- a simple mechanical structure with a quick clipping device to
allow easy membrane replacements.

Coastal buoy
The oil spill detection system is always in contact with the water
surface.

Thanks to its design, this buoy is well adapted to moving waters and
can accommodate waves up to 1 meter high.

The terminal buoy is composed of:

- 4 floats allowing a good stability of the OilSpy detector,
- a simple mechanical structure with a quick clipping device to allow
easy membrane replacements,
- solar panel,
- radio transmission,
- submersible container in the gravity centre to increase the stability
of the platform including battery, control electronic supply and
radio emission,
- a mast equipped with a signalisation flash according to the
international rules of navigation and an antenna.

Coastal buoy
well adapted to moving waters and can ac-
commodate waves up to 1 meter high

VARINIVO
The VARINIVO system is recommended for heavy hydrocarbons
and chlorous solvent.

The VARINIVO must be installed along a vertical wall. The OilSpy

is embedded in a piezo tube held up at a chosen height by the
blocking of its communication cable. OilSpy is equipped with a
centring ring.

Piezometer
The OilSpy ADF Piezo membrane holder is used to monitor
groundwater tables as well as variable water level installation
where space restrictions do not allow the use of buoys or slides.

OilSpy Alarm Station

The OILSPY Alarm Station ensures the following functions :
- acquisition of the alarms from the OilSpy detectors current loop
and/or Radio (requires an OilSpy Radio receiver),
- visual and sound alarms,
- test function,
- memory of the past events,
- alarm outputs: voltage output.
Key for alarm aknowledgment.

Configuration
The OilSpy alarm station centralizes the alarms from the OilSpy current loop and the OilSpy radio.

OilSpy Current Loop:

- 5 OilSpy with the Multiplexeur - 9 OilSpy with 2 Multiplexeurs in cascade.

OilSpy Radio:
- up to 45 OilSpy by OilSpy radio receiver.

OILSPY Multiplexer
The multiplexer OilSpy can connect up to 5 OilSpy current loop standard to OilSpy alarm station.

It is possible to install two multiplexer in series in order to regroup up to 9 detectors.

The multiplexers and the connected detectors are applied with the alarm station. The communication operates thanks to a
12 conductors cable.
