INTRODUCTION

Chapter 1
The class record of the teachers is one of the most important things
that the student records were kept. It serves as the record book of all of the
class performance of the students. Class record is also known as record book.
Record book is available in the market.
The study entitled e-DoX: DEPED Student Grade Records Management
System with Implementation of Advanced Encryption Standard and PKI
Infrastructure for the Department of Education in the Province of Leyte (2013)
which aims to develop an online based application to aid private and public schools
in submission of reports on promotions in the province of Leyte was used to guide
the researcher on how to treat and interpret data and results. DEPED Order No 73,
Series of 2012 entitled Guidelines and Assessment and Learning Outcome under
the K-12 Basic Education Curriculum was used to guide the researcher as the basis
of computation of grades. The level of assessment that includes knowledge, process
or skills, understanding and product and level of proficiency are some of the useful
information that serves as inputs in the completion of the study. According to Chua,
B.B. & Dyson L.E. (2004), there is a widespread use of e-learning systems and
investment in them but there is no consensus on a standard framework for
evaluating the quality of the output. In their study, they used ISO 9126 Quality
Model as a useful tool for evaluating systems, particularly for teachers and
educational administrators. They also demonstrated the validity of the model and
used to detect design loopholes. The ISO 9126 is used by the researcher as a guide
to come up with a survey and evaluation instrument .The International Organization
for Standardization(ISO) was founded in 1946 in order to unify industrial

standards by providing a single set of standards that would be recognized and
followed (Praxiom Research Group). The ISO 9126 was developed in 1991 to provide
a framework for evaluating software quality. It was refined over a ten year period
(Abran, 2003). The metrics introduced and validated from this study were
considered and became the basis of the researcher to come up with the survey
evaluation form of the electronic class records. An electronic class record for the
LPU-Laguna and LPU-St. Cabrini is developed as a substitute to the conventional
ways of recording the performance of the students. The researcher based his
method of developing the electronic class record to lessen the activities and
customized the content of the output (Dellosa, 2013). Sommerville (2011) discussed
that security is one of the important attributes of the system to protect itself from
accidental or incidental attacks. He also tackled some of the methodology on how to
develop the system including Rapid Application Development, prototyping and
formal methods. The researcher focused on the use of prototype method
information and applied it in this study. Chens (1997) study entitled Computer
based Document Management System, leads to an efficient way to automatically
import, index, categorize, store, search, retrieve, manipulate and archive electronic
documents. This will be entrant information for online application. The researcher
used the discussion and output of this study to come up with a study
recommendation that online grade viewer is possible. The field of technology will
benefit for the reason that this is another innovation in information technology. This
study serves as a starting point of computerization and may lead to online
technology. The end users will benefit for the reason that the study will make their
life easier for grade computation. The institution will also benefit because this would
contribute for creating an image to the institution as technology-driven. Most of the
teachers are aware on how to use class record. Due to fast evolution of technology,
existence of laptops and notebooks and application software application software,
worksheet is made available as software to support computations of grades. The
intention of this study is to come up with a design of electronic class records that
will be utilized by the teachers of Jugaban National High School.

Background of the Study

As time pass by, lots of changes happen. From time to time new
innovations appear. It will not be surprising to know that someday, the world
will be full of revolutionary high technologies that will make life easier and
make work faster. In this 21st century, there has been an increase of geeks
and technologies are used everywhere.

Old professionals are to adopt these modernized tools with the


millennials. Students nowadays use gadgets to make their learning easier. If
these students can find ways to ease their ways in school, professional
teachers that have burdened for a long time with lots of things to carry and
are loaded with lots of paper works have to be more innovative in their
ways and adjust to this modern world. Teachers now use advanced tool for
computing the grades of their students called E-Class Record. The Department
of Education (DepEd) provides these Electronics Class Record (ECR) templates
for free use by all public school teachers. The templates allow for
computation of grades consistent with DepEd Order No. , s. 2015, also known
as the policy Guidelines on Classroom Assessment for the K-12 Basic
Education Program. This technology promotes high accuracy and easier way
for them to work.
Statement of the Problem

The E-Class Record used by the teachers should aim to make


grades for their students quickly and efficiently so that they will not be
exhausted in computing the grades for their students. The process of using
this E-Class Record should be optimize for time efficiency but also should be
straightforward enough that it can be easily understood and used by the
teachers appropriately. However, E-Class Record current users experience a
big help for effective computing of grades of their students. On the other
side, the current protocol makes the teachers, work a lot and a big problem
for those who are not aware o0f high technologies and dont even know
how to operate it, what could be the possible effects of this innovations?
Will it be good or bad? Is there any chances that this tool is an advantage
or disadvantage for the teachers?
A. How many teachers of Jugaban National High School are using E-Class
record?
B. What are the effects of the E-Class Record to the teachers?

Based on the performance of the E-Class Record, the teachers should


have at least a laptop, computer or a tablet to gain access for it. Roughly
some of the new teachers need to buy such technology in order to provide
themselves this template of E-Class Record. They will need money that will
result to another loan and another budgeting plans to buy the technologies
and install the E-Class Record Templates.

Significance of the Study

The findings of this study will redound to the benefit of School


Administrators and Curriculum Planners considering that E-Class Record plays
an important role in educational purposes for todays generation. The greater
demands and background justifies the need for more effective computing of
grades. Thus the school that adopts the E-Class Record will have a better
mode of computing the grades for their students. Administrators and teachers
will be guided on what should be emphasized in improving the way to
compute grades and how to help them to work on it in an easier way and
faster. For the researcher (or researchers if its a group study) this study will
help them uncover critical areas in computing processes of using e-class
Record and know its effects on teachers. Thus a new theory on using this
template may be arrived at.

Scope and Delimitations

The primary object is to know what, when, and how E-Class Record
work in providing help for the teachers. The secondary object is to know
whether the E-Class Record brings bad or good effects for the teachers
computation to the grades of their students. As an addendum, the study will
only include the e-Class Record and its effect whether it be good or bad for
the Teachers only in Jugaban National High School Jugaban Carigara, Leyte.
