The college was established in the
year 1997 by the Rajalakshmi Educational
Trust, headed by Mr. S. Meganathan, a
Mechanical Engineer by profession and a
successful industrialist, ably assisted by Dr.
(Mrs.) Thangam Meganathan, an
Educationalist and a successful career
guidance advisor. The college offers 12 UG
programmes. 9 PG programmes and 9
Research programmes. REC is recognized
by AICTE and affiliated to Anna University.
Chennai. The college has got NBA for eligible
departments and NAAC accredited with 'A'
grade and an ISO certification from TUV.
Germany. The college has been approved as
one of the centers of relevance and
excellence in Machine Vision by DST, TIFAC-
New Delhi.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Mechanical
Engineering established during 1997, offers
both UG and PG programmers. It has been
recognized as Research centre by Anna
University for collaborative research
programmer which leads to Ph.D. and M.S.
degree by research. The department has
been re-accredited by NBA and it has well
experienced faculty members with a blend of
industrial and academic exposure.
HOW TO REACH
The college is situated at Thandalam
on the National Highway (NH-4). It is about
25 kms from Chennai. It is well connected by
rail and road.
