My goal in Humanities I for the fall semester of this school year was to improve my Lexile level by 55 points by the end
of the school year. Overall, I was unsuccessful in reaching this goal because of weaknesses regarding my time
management skills as well as poor use of resources. I struggled primarily with time management skills because I did not
use my daily planner to help me remember to complete Achieve3000 activities and outside reading assignments.
Additionally, I have sometimes made poor choices during class time such as not writing down the homework and not
using my planner daily. Although I had difficulties with several study skills this year, I have also been successful with
organization and preparation. I have always come to school with a charged laptop, and I have kept my backpack and
notebooks well-organized. Additionally, I have used Google Classroom to keep up with my assignments. In most cases,
these organizational habits have helped me to succeed in major project and classwork assignments, and I believe my
writing has improved a little as a result. My S.M.A.R.T. goal for the spring semester of this school year is to improve my
reading comprehension and vocabulary levels by reading three books outside of class time and completing at least ten
extracurricular Achieve3000 articles by June 12th. I will accomplish this goal by reading 5-10 pages in my
extracurricular books each night and by completing one Achieve3000 article every other day. I will also set reminders on
my phone and begin using my planner every day so that I can keep track of my schedule. In order to overcome my
weakness in using resources inappropriately during class, I will set my messages to do not disturb and turn off my
phone before I enter the school building each day. My hope for the future is that I will be able to become a technology
professionals. I know that technology professionals must have a high Lexile level in order to process complex
technology program, so it is my hope that by following this plan for Humanities I I will be able to take one step closer to
my dream.
