PRESIDENTS REPORT

Hello all.

Well another month has passed with some members finding

gold on local trips.

Thanks to the members involved in getting Hillsborough as

another location for fossicking. A special thanks to the owners
of Hillsborough Station for allowing access.

Peter Tarca has provided some information and maps relating

to Hillsborough.

Peter Craggs Shop will be opening soon at Aitkenvale.

We require members to assist with the selling of raffle tickets

at Kirwan Primary School on Friday 28th from 5pm and
Willows markets for Sundays commencing 30th October.

Good luck to everyone still prospecting; the rest of us can

take it easy in the air conditioning.

EDITORS NOTE

Hello readers.

As the end of the year looms ahead theres action-a-plenty both on the
TMDC home front and further afield.

In brief:

Minelab releases their new 19 (2kg) mega coil for the GPZ.
Hillsborough Station sees its first month of pay-to-detect visitors.
Peter Craggs Townsville Prospecting World opens in Aitkenvale
A new Li-Ion battery option arrives for the popular SDC2300.
JW finds evidence of some crafty currency work.

The convenience of our club facebook group is being realised and utilised
by more members. Notifications of impromptu news and club events have
allowed things to be organised and actioned with greater flexibility and ease.

Over the following days I did a LOT of walking, and after 3

dry days it was a friendly local man of the law with a GPZ
who kindly showed me an area that had been producing
a few recent sub-gram specks. After dinner we talked for
a couple of hours over a beer or two.

During my last two days I happily managed 5 tiny pieces

totaling 2.5g. But my joys were interrupted by worrisome
thoughts I was having - would people respond favorably
to the first draft of the visitor conditions of entry?

As some of you may know, my parents were Townsville

tourism pioneers with a vision, not unlike Pat Williams,
and I felt there was a danger of limiting the quality of the
visitors experience, giving them reason to go elsewhere.
Thats the last thing I wanted. The success of this venture
is all too exciting to me on many levels. But hey - every
start has to begin somewhere right? And above all, I
consider the entire enterprise with very high regard and
fully support it. So I took it upon myself to make a few
notes and forward them on to management. As with any
new proposal, there are many things that get discovered
then ironed out as things move forward.

On the grapevine some weeks later i heard mention of

activity at the station and was pleased. The news was
very progressive and I believe Hillsborough will hold much
appeal for the visiting camper and detectorist, and quickly
be a hard-to-beat fossicking destination. At the time of at Hillsborough, and
