data, Map Interface) as a server-side software developer.
Implemented advertising service in Phoenix Framework (using Elixir language)
to achieve high-concurrency.

Visiting Undergraduate Research Intern, System and Media Lab (SyMLab),

Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Summer 2014

Integrated large scale social media and GPS taxi trace data to build a prediction
framework for spatial distribution of traffic in an urban area.
Authored Urban Network Analysis: A Survey, a survey summarizing develop-
ments in analysis of urban transportation networks using the paradigm of network
science.
Attended Helsinki-HKUST-Tsinghua Workshop on Cloud and Mobile Computing
and gave a presentation on Urban Road Networks: Analysis and Applications.

Implemented sub-module and severity based debugging facility in the kernel code
as a member of the Multimedia team.
Led a team selected for the finals of IdeaQuest (Innovation competition organized
by Qualcomm India) that developed Handwriting Recognition System for mobile
devices using Track-Learn- Detect Algorithm.

Academic Information Spread on Twitter, 2014 - 2015

Projects
The broad aim of the project was to understand the mechanism of popularity of
tweets in Twitter and the role played by mentions in it.
The project was carried out on two fronts: data study, where the role played
by mentions in the popularity of tweets was analyzed on the tweet dataset (1.3
million real tweets)n and modeling, where we built a mentioning model, first to
replicate the results found from the data study and then to recommend users who
should be mentioned to make the tweet more popular.

Epidemic Spreading in Multiplex Networks 2014

As a part of the Social Computing course, simulated the dynamic interplay be-
tween the epidemic and information spreading on a two-layered network using
Microscopic Markov Chain Approach (MMCA) and extensive Monte Carlo simu-
lations. The dependence of epidemic threshold on various model parameters was
studied.

Motif-detection Algorithm in Web Search Query Network 2013

As a part of Complex Network Theory course, compared various Motif-detection

tools namely FANMOD, Kavosh , MotifAnalysis, MAVisto and mFinder on run-
time and scalability and analyzed error induced by subgraph-sampling. Also
studied structural significance of network-motifs by analyzing semantic related-
ness of motif-words.

Predicting Transfer Activity of Football Clubs 2013

Classified tweets as positive, negative and neutral using Nave Bayes classifier and
Support Vector Machine (SVM) with frequency and Mutual Information(MI)
based feature selection algorithms. In the end, ranked the clubs according to
support mustered on twitter in the pre-season (ranking was justified by fans
satisfaction with transfer activity of the clubs)
