A
s an engineering executive with GE Aviation for more than 20
years, Kurt Hansen has tackled a broad range of technical and
business challenges to contribute to the companys global
leadership in the aviation industry.

Kurts expertise is leading large, diverse, globally dispersed teams to exceed stretch goals
and solve critical business problems. His career has been marked by steady progression
and frequent selection for new product initiatives, business-wide programs, and
turnaround and revitalization challenges.

Currently Engineering Executive, Cost and Producibility, Kurt is leading a new organization
charged with delivering incremental improvements to all of the companys commercial
engine programs.

Previously, as a Section Manager in both Engineering and Supply Chain divisions, Kurt
directed organizations as large as 400 people and operating budgets up to $95 million. His
notable achievements include:

Leading design engineering for turbines and mechanical systems for


groundbreaking new program initiatives, including the innovative LEAP engine
the largest aircraft program in history.
Launching a dynamic program to place engineers on site at more than 40 global
locations to bring problem-solving expertise to the production floor.
Participating on M&A teams and smoothly integrating acquired organizations into
GE Aviation.
Capturing millions of dollars in cost reductions, productivity gains, and process
improvements.
Creating cultures that reward innovation, value diversity, and are marked by
consistent overachievement of business goals.

He began his career with GE Energy and subsequently moved to the Aviation business,
where he progressed through roles as Lead Engineer, Design Leader, and Process Leader
before being selected for the first team of Master Black Belts to lead the implementation
of the revolutionary Six Sigma methodology within GE Aviation.

Kurt earned his BSME from South Dakota State University and his MSME from Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute. He was chosen for several of GEs renowned leadership and technical
development programs, most recently the Experienced Leaders Challenge, and he is
licensed as a Professional Engineer in the state of Ohio. He holds six patents for turbine
engineering advancements.
Kurts leadership extends beyond his corporate contributions. He serves on the Corporate
Advisory Council for the American Indian Science & Engineering Society, the Engineering
Advisory Council at South Dakota State University, and the GE Community Service Fund
Board. He was a founding member of GE Aviations Engineering Diversity Council and a
campaign leader for United Way of Greater Cincinnati. He and his wife, Dori, sponsor an
annual scholarship to the College of Engineering at South Dakota State University. They
reside in Loveland, Ohio.
