As you read chapters eleven and twelve of Lord of the Flies, take notes by adding details to the spaces below. Once
you are finished taking notes, respond to the discussion question and identify 5 or more vocabulary words you have
learned in these chapters. Refer back to our chapter 11-12 Quizlet study set as needed.

I. Chapter 11 discussion questions:


A. What is myopia? What makes Piggy myopic? Are there other myopic characters (figuratively
speaking)? Discuss the significance of blindness (literal and figurative) in this chapter.
Jack cant see because he wanted to be leader and blinded by leader to set an example for feelings
Ralph can see that everyone gone savages and cant be changed back.
Piggy cant see that physically and mentally.

B. What happens to Samneric in this chapter? Why do you think they chose Samneric? What do Samneric
want to do to protect themselves from this fate, before they even leave for Jacks camp?
They got forced witch foreshadows torture
The tribe took them to islande Ralph they know that Ralph will try to rescue Sam & Eric.
Sam & Eric bring spears try to hide try to suggest that they should paint their face

C. What do Jack and Ralph do after Ralph calls Jack a thief? Who advises them to stop? What do they do
after he orders Samneric to be tied up?
They start fighting he orders that Sam and Eric get tied up.

D. What is the significance of Piggys injury in this chapter? Is Piggy a static or dynamic character?
How do you know?
Brian Damage, died and try to make peace.
Dynamic Piggy because he hold grudges and try to hold back his feelings but at the end he tries to stand up
for himself. Piggy is also Static because he keeps on being sivilized instead of savagery.

II. Chapter 12 discussion questions:


A. When Ralph comes upon the Lord of the Flies in the jungle, what does he do? What is the
significance of this action?
They are going to hunt Ralph and stake him look for him.
Cut his head off and kill Ralph.
Where to hide for Ralph and feed him some stake.
B. How do SamnEric offer support to Ralph when he finds them guarding the gates on Castle Rock?
Give his stake to eat.

C. What can you infer Roger and Jack intend to do with the stick that is sharpened at both ends?
Stake Ralph with a stick.

D. Near the end of the book, it says, Ralph wept for the end of innocence, the darkness of man's heart,
and the fall through the air of a true, wise friend called Piggy. What do you think this quote means?
Think of Ralph's perspective, how did he change, what did he learn? Was he friends with Piggy at the
beginning?
That friends go first to survive and help them.
