CHAMPION/DATA/ROUND 13
BRIS
Hi and welcome to the 13th H&A edition of the Fantasy Freako's rave for 2013.
With the bye rounds over this week was all about getting back to some normality, but sadly that won't
CARL
be the case with Grant Birchall, Shannon Hurn, Brett Goodes, Michael Barlow, Scott Selwood and Adam
Goodes all succumbing to injury last round, while Steve Johnson has been hit with a two-week ban.
In this week's focus I will highlight the best trade up options from the six Round 13 bye clubs, while
also analysing the run home to the finals for all 18 clubs.
COLL
Take note that a partial lockout is in place this week with a Thursday match kicking off the round, so
that means that all West Coast and Essendon players are locked in for good. Enjoy this week's read
and best of luck for this round and beyond.
ESS
TR ADE UP TARGETS
FREM
This is the week we bring in the guns. Gary Ablett, Dane Swan, Scott Pendlebury, Jobe Watson and Brent Stanton all
had the bye last round and if you haven't got any of those players in your team then make sure you pounce! Stanton
is the only player I would steer clear of for now considering he has a massive breakeven score of 177. He'll be better
priced in the lead up to Round 15.
GEEL
As for Gary Ablett his breakeven score of 147 isn't a concern at all. He has averaged a massive 137 points against this
week's opponent Adelaide in his four matches, with two of those being at Metricon Stadium where he has amassed
disposal tallies of 43 and 39 in that order, scoring 138 and 142 points along the way.
GCS
A cheaper alternative to Ablett is Dane Swan. Only 42% of the competition owns the magnet and with a game against
Port Adelaide coming up this week he could score anything. He averages 133 points per match at AAMI Stadium in
his last three outings and has good form against Port Adelaide, racking up 141 and 155 points in his past two games
GWS
against them at that venue. Teammate Scott Pendlebury hasn't been as prominent, averaging 97 points per game.
If you're after a defender then you have a choice of three DPP's. Bryce Gibbs is one but his interstate record since
2012 is woeful, averaging a poor 77 points per match. He has failed to reach three figures in any of his seven games,
scoring below 90 on five occasions. Let's hope that trend doesn't continue this week against Sydney. His form leading
HAW
into this match is outstanding, however, collecting a pair of 123s in his last two outings, and with a breakeven score
of only 50 points he won't be this cheap for much longer.
MELB
Dyson Heppell is the another option, ranking fourth at the club for points scored behind the big three in Brent
Stanton, Jobe Watson and Brendon Goddard. He has returned 76, 81 and 104 points in his three interstate trips this
year already. Teammate Goddard has 70, 90 and 103 points to his name from away matches this season.

BEST RUN HOME
CARL
If you go back to one of my pre-season rave's I outlined
which sides have the toughest draw to start the year. THE RUN HOME
In that case it was Hawthorn. Considering we have
COLL
just passed the halfway mark, I thought it would be
Club Ave. DT
a worthwhile exercise to look at which sides have the
easiest run home.
ESS
Western Bulldogs 1643.0
After crunching the numbers the Western Bulldogs
have come up as having the easiest finish - with their
Brisbane Lions 1630.4
upcoming opponents over the next 10 rounds conceding
FREM
an average of 1,643 points per match - clearly the most.
Looking at their draw they come up against Melbourne Melbourne 1626.9
this week and also face the Demons in the final H&A
round of the year which is Grand Final week in
GEEL
Fremantle 1623.2
AFLFantasy. They also face the Giants in their run home
and also play six of their games at Etihad Stadium.
Gold Coast Suns 1620.1
Fremantle has the easiest run home of any current top-8
GCS
side, playing half of their next 10 games at Patersons
Sydney Swans 1618.0
Stadium. Its final four rounds are also encouraging,
coming up against Greater Western Sydney, Melbourne,
GWS
Port Adelaide and St Kilda in that order. Get on the North Melbourne 1613.6
Dockers I say!
Geelong Cats 1607.4
Conversely, Essendon has the toughest run home base
HAW
on this analysis, with its upcoming opponents conceding
an average of 1,581 points per match - the fewest GWS Giants 1606.8
overall. In its run home it comes up against current
MELB
top-8 sides Port Adelaide, Hawthorn, Collingwood and
Adelaide Crows 1600.6
Richmond. It also faces only two of the current five
bottom placed sides - Western Bulldogs and Greater
Western Sydney. Richmond 1600.5
into practice, one would strongly look at Matthew Boyd Collingwood 1586.7
and Ryan Griffen this week as they come up against
lowly Melbourne. Leigh Montagna racked up 146 points
West Coast Eagles 1584.6
RICH
three figures.
Essendon 1579.6
To the right is the run home for the respective sides,
from easiest to toughest.

Although he has been down on form, this is the week to jump

Averaging 17 disposals and 68 points per game since Round 8, Pearce Hanley

won in the forward half. Avoid him for now.

Michael Barlow was on track for a 150+ point game last week before he
went off with a jaw injury at the 11 minute mark of the final term. He
underwent a minor procedure during the week and is some chance of
COLL
playing against the Cats, however, the Dockers won't take any risks with him.

If you are short on cash cows then an option worth considering would be to
play Tom Nicholls on the ground and trade out your second ruckman, for
example Sam Jacobs, Ivan Maric or Ben McEvoy. The only drawback with this
COLL
strategy is that you won't have a reliable back-up in case of injury/suspension.

Frustration levels would have reached fever-pitch on Friday night

Andrew Swallow responded accordingly last week after a stinker in Round
11, collecting 129 points against the Dockers. Scores of 94 and 73 points
in his two matches against the Giants last season aren't too encouraging
COLL
however, but I expect him to eclipse those numbers comfortably this week.

I had a choice of any midfielder last week and went for Kane
Cornes. What a bad option that proved to be considering he
scored a season-low 68 points against Sydney. His record against
COLL
this week's opponent Collingwood hasn't been great either by his
standards, cracking the ton only once from his past six games,
averaging 92 per match.

The latter has scored 70, 71 and 78 points in that order in this
