Hi and welcome to the 10th H&A edition of the Fantasy Freako's rave for 2013. If you have been
diligent and prepared well for the bye rounds then you shouldn't have any major issues over the next
three weeks. However, if you haven't then you could be in for some pain on the scoreboard.
CARL
In this week's focus I have analysed the best performers in wins compared to losses, while also
highlighting the best debuts so far this season, with a son of a gun stealing the limelight last round.
COLL
Enjoy this week's read and best of luck for this round and beyond.
ESS
DOES THE RESULT MAT TER?
Prior to delving into the findings of my detailed analysis,
I should note that only players that have featured in at BIGGEST DIFFERENTIALS

least two wins/losses have been included. Furthermore,
numbers from the only drawn match between Sydney and IN 2013
Fremantle have also been excluded.

GEEL
So let's ask ourselves the question. Does the result of a
match impact a players score? For the majority of the 1 Sam Kerridge Adel 95 49 46
competition, the answer would be yes, but for Gary Ablett,
Brent Stanton, Scott Selwood, Dane Swan, Jobe Watson, 2 Jonathan Brown Bris 96 52 44

Kieren Jack and Scott Pendlebury, the answer would be
no. Of the 281 players that have featured in at least two 3 Brett Deledio Rich 113 70 43

players have averaged three figures regardless of the 4 Jack Steven StK 127 86 41

CARL
In one of the most anticipated debuts in recent history, Tom Mitchell finally got his chance last week
against Essendon. After two massive games in the NEAFL he basically picked himself, racking up 52 and
56 disposals in his previous two games. Admittedly the NEAFL is a long way off AFL standards, but his
COLL
performance against the Bombers was no surprise to anyone that had seen Mitchell play as a junior.
As expected he started the match with the green vest, but an injury to Tommy Walsh early in the second
term activated him into the game, and the rest is now history. He looked like a seasoned campaigner from
ESS
his first touch, finishing with 18 disposals, six tackles, one goal and 98 points from only 50% game time.
He was involved in nine of Sydney's scores - the most recorded on the ground. If he started on the ground
a score in excess of 120 would have definitely been on the cards.
FREM
Another Round 10 debutant was Collingwood's Kyle Martin and he too looked right at home at the elite
level, finishing with 19 disposals, six tackles, two goals and 92 points against Brisbane. Recently added
to the senior list, he's expected to keep his place in the side in the coming weeks, presenting us with
GEEL
another trade down target.
Looking at other debutants across the year, the Magpies have been a goldmine for cash cows, blooding six
new players - the equal-most of any side in the league. The Saints have also blooded six, but they haven't
GCS
troubled the scorers too much, with youngster Jackson Ferguson finishing in the negatives last week
against the Kangaroos before he was subbed off at half time.
The most prominent debut from a fantasy perspective was Oliver Wines in the season opener against
GWS
Melbourne, finishing with 24 disposals and 99 points. Tom Mitchell's return last round ranks him second
overall, but considering he started as the sub and only played half the game, he would have to be the pick
of the crop. Sam Mayes rounds out the top-three after his 95 points against Gold Coast in Round 4.

Troy Menzel is a natural goalsneak, booting two goals on his way to 63

The sky was the limit for Port Adelaide after it won its first five

Sadly it has hit the wall, losing its next five matches, with only Kane
