Yossos text has both shaped and informed me of the corrupt ways and discrimination
going on in the world of the education system. For me, it brought into the light, how
different people of color are being viewed as dumb only for not being school smart,
rather than being appreciated for being there in class, willing to get an education, and
bringing in such beautiful culture that the US thrives on. Its also sad, that after so many
years of dealing with racial problems educators can find it in them to still discriminate
against people of color, rather than to move on from those negative thoughts that do no
good for them and create a safe learning environment with equity.
people that interest me online sometimes, but at the same time I dont really pick up a
book and start reading for fun normally, the way I used to in elementary or middle
school.

writers, not knowing who they were and what they had to do with her article.

didnt completely understand even with having used those clues. I couldnt

1. How it helped you make meaning of the text: I am able to look back at my
initial thoughts going on from a passage, or look at the highlighted main part.

actually reading and it helps with me not getting distracted by what's around
me.
5. How it helped you make meaning of the text: It helps me realize what
complex text, and if you cant understand something you will research the term or
sources cited.
