Benson Middle School

Rashard Curmon / Ryan Ewell

School History
Benson Middle School is located just outside the town of Benson, right off
highway 301.
Currently, there are 480 students enrolled at the school. Student population is
made up of 49% white and 51% minority students.
As a Title 1 school, some of the challenges include finding supplies, resources
and funds for the low income population of students and families associated
with the school.
School History
Over the last three years, the school has researched and implemented programs
such as MTSS, CMP3, Investigations, RCD, AVID and Fountas and Pinnell reading
to provide effective interventions and curricula strategies that will meet the
students needs in multiple areas.
This has allowed the three elementary schools to directly align with the three
middle schools and implement strategies, interventions and programs that will
also be used at the high school. Some of these strategies include behavior
interventions, curricula alignment and vertical professional development
opportunities.
Mission
The mission of Benson Middle School is to empower students to become lifelong
learners through collaboration among students, parents, educators, and community
partnerships. Using comprehensive research based curriculum that is rigorous,
technologically advanced, and globally relevant to today's changing society, we will
saturate our students with a thirst for knowledge.
Values
To empower students to become productive citizens in a global society.
To ensure a successful and quality education for all students through collaboration
among students, parents, educators, and community.
