Configuration provides the initial settings for extended memory and checkout
procedures that must be carried out before starting to work with the Unit.
Functional characteristics of this generator are defined during Configuration.
Calibration data and some configuration data are stored in the extended
memory area in a non-volatile memory chip (U11-EEPROM) located on the
Portable Control Board.
The Dip Switches located in the Portable Control Board (A3175-01) define the
Unit configuration:
SM-0510R4 3

Configuration data is entered from the Control Panel when the Unit is in Service
Mode. Access and configure data as indicated below:
1. Turn the Unit OFF.
2. Open the Cover and set switch S1--1 on Portable Control Board
(A3175-01) in On position to allow the Service Mode.
3. Turn the Unit ON. A beep will sound when the Unit starts its power-up
routine and the software version (a.e. P01.03.0) is shown on the Display
of the Control Panel.
After the power-up routine the kVp Display shows CAL announcing
that the Unit is in Configuration and Calibration Mode.

SECTION 3 CALIBRATION
CALIBRATION PROCESS
Note . The kV values to be selected in Calibration Mode are: 40, 80, 100
and 110 kVp depending on the maximum kVp of the Unit.

2. Select: 80 kVp, Large Focal Spot (led blinks), and the lowest mA station
in Large Focal Spot (by pressing the mAs push-buttons). During
Calibration mAs Display shows the mA value.
3. Make an exposure and measure kVp and mA signal values with the
Oscilloscope.
Note . Once a value for filament current is saved, the value remains in
memory for the next mA station. This feature helps to save time at
entering new data for the next station.

7. Repeat above procedure to calibrate the Filament Current for 110 kVp (or
100 kVp) at the lowest mA station in Large Focal Spot. The Filament
Current value is 1, 2 or 3 steps lower the one calibrated for 80 kVp. (Refer
to Table 3-1).
Note . The calibration data for Filament Current should not be repeated
at any station.
1. Press and hold Collimator Lamp and then press mAs Decrease
push-button. Release first only mAs Decrease push-button (two beeps
sound) and then release Collimator Lamp push-button. The kVp
Display shows P01 and one of the Focal Spot Leds blinks.
5. Save the value by pressing any Focal Spot push-button. The Display
mAs shows kVp Gain value during two seconds (this value represents
the Gain correction automatically applied, 200 is the reference value).

rest of mA stations in Large Focal Spot. The Filament Current value is 3,
4 or 5 steps above the previous calibrated lower mA station at 80 kVp.
(Refer to Table 3-1).
11. Repeat the procedure to calibrate the Filament Current for 40 kVp at the
respective mA stations in Large Focal Spot. The Filament Current value
is 3, 4, 5 or 6 steps above the same mA station calibrated for 80 kVp.
(Refer to Table 3-1).
12. Repeat the procedure to calibrate the Filament Current for 110 kVp (or
100 kVp) at the respective mA stations in Large Focal Spot. The Filament
Current value is 1, 2 or 3 steps lower the same mA station calibrated for

SECTION 4 ADJUSTMENTS
1. Place the Portable Unit in vertical position. The Unit has to be perfectly
aligned with a Cassette Film for a Cassette of 24 x 30 cm. Check with a
level correct horizontal position of both parts.
Note . The Cassette Film used for testing can be located into an
Horizontal Bucky or Cassette Tray of a Table or alone.

6. Adjust the Light Field of the Collimator Lamp to the rectangle drawn
inside the Collimator Test Tool.
7. Place centered the Beam Alignment Test Tool (RMI model 162A) on the
Collimator Test Tool.
10. Process film and check that the X-ray Field falls just within the image of
the inner rectangle of the Collimator Test Tool.
If an edge of the X-ray Field falls out of the inner rectangle means a
misalignment of the Light Field respect to the X-ray Field. The maximum
misalignment allowed is 2 % of SID (for SID 1m = 2 cm tolerance).
Refer to Section 4.1.1 for alignment of Light Field with X-ray Field.
1. Place the Portable Unit in vertical position. The Unit has to be perfectly
aligned with a Cassette Film for a Cassette of 24 x 30 cm. Check with a
level correct horizontal position of both parts.
3. Position the Collimator Test Tool (RMI model 161B) on the Cassette Film.

Note . Before starting with the Field Size Indicator Test, the Alignment of
X-Ray Beam Test and the Alignment of Light Field with X-Ray Field
Test should be performed.
1. Place the Portable Unit in vertical position. The Unit has to be perfectly
aligned with a Cassette Film for a Cassette of 35 x 43 cm. Check with a
level correct horizontal position of both parts.
2. Position SID at 1 meter (use the SID Metric Tape of the Unit).

Error Code List
ERROR DESCRIPTION
E12 mA is out of range during exposure or exposure has been aborted by the operator.
E13 kV is out of range during exposure or exposure has been aborted by the operator.
Inverter Overheating error. The temperature calculation for the next exposure is beyond 90oC or the present
E28 conditions of the X-ray Unit inhibit the exposure (inverter overheated). Parameters for next exposure are temporally
limited by the generator (change the exposure parameters or wait for the X-ray Unit to cool).
Technique error. If it activates during exposure it means that the exposure has been interrupted by the Security
E34
Timer because of a system failure.
E36 The X-ray Tube thermostat / pressurestat is open or is not working properly. Heat Units may raise to any value.
Tube Overload error. The selected technique is beyond the X-ray tube ratings or present conditions of the X-ray tube
inhibit the exposure (anode overheated). Parameters for next exposure may be temporally limited by the generator
E37 (change the exposure values or wait for the X-ray tube to cool).
Check that Heat Units available are lower than the calculated for the next exposure (Heat Units close to zero).
Reduce exposure parameters or wait for the X-ray Tube to cool.
