Brief On My Internship
MSAG OF ZTE:
In recent two years, NGN technology and Softswitch product witness wide commercial
applications worldwide, undertaking various network constructions involving data network, core
control network, service network, access network and so forth.
To date, there are various interfaces at user side, such as POTS, BRI and ADSL, to fully satisfy
different service demands. It has become operators major concern to accomodate existing
network environment and protect network investment while providing new services. At the
endpoints, usually several end user interfaces are requested, including accessing the POTS, BRI,
ADSL, VDSL, even 100M Ethernet interface or V5 interface based on the IP network.

For instance, British Telecom intends to access its endpoints to IP MAN or backbone network
based on existing twist-pair lines resources to provide VOIP and broadband data services.
However, due to its sparse population distribution, the existing twist-pair lines resources are too
rare to repeatedly deploy the last mile cable. Consequently, it adopts ADSL interface for end
users. Some other carriers like America AT&T and Thailand TOT, by the same token, suffer
similar case.

In order to meet various demands from major carriers, ZTE independently rolls out Multi-service
Access Gateway product - MSAG.

MSAG OF ALCATEL
The Alcatel-Lucent 7302 Intelligent Services Access Manager (ISAM) is a high-capacity access
node that delivers a superior service experience in DSL, GPON or point-to-point fiber networks.
It is the cost-effective choice for established service providers and new entrants (utilities,
municipalities, governments) striving to deliver universal broadband.
The 7302 ISAM supports residential, mobile and business applications from a single
IP/Ethernet/MPLS access platform. The product delivers 100 Mb/s and beyond per subscriber in
mass FTTx deployments over copper or fiber. The 7302 ISAM offers 16 to 18 slots for GPON,
P2P fiber, VDSL2 (including bonding and vectoring), ADSLx, voice, and SHDSL line cards. It
has a dual 10-Gb/s backplane and delivers 2 x 320 Gb/s switching capacity in redundant
configurations.

Alcatel-Lucent ISAM products comprise the most widely deployed access platforms in the
world. They power some of the worlds largest FTTH deployments, open networks and advanced
VDSL2 deployments.

MSAG OF HUAWEI

With the increasing demands on telecommunication services, including data, video, voice, and
multimedia services, large-capacity access networks that provide high-speed, high-quality
integrated services have become the focus of access network development.

To address the tendency toward this type of access network, Huawei HONET UA5000 multi-
service access product integrates traditional voice, VoIP, private line, PBX, video, and
multimedia services for subscribers. It provides GE, FE, E1, GPON, and EPON network ports
for transmitting services upstream. Huawei HONET UA5000 can be used in scenarios such as
integrated access, broadband access, and enterprise access.

Swot Analysis

Strength:
PTCL enjoy monoply
Large earnings
Good qulaity international connectivity
Government support
PTCL(Ufone) is a market challenger in GSM segment

Weaknesses:
Image- Government Organization
Image- Lack of customer focus
Social responsibility
Lack of customer services

Oportunity:
Growth in Telecommunication Industry
Time to establish brand loyality
More aware and technology understanding
Introduce high value added products

Threats:
Exposure to market competition
Migration to cellular networks
Reduction in International settlement rates

Recommendations/Suggestions
PTCL should immediately change its Finance upper level of hirarchy and should stream
line in good manner
Should be decreased over number of employees
Should be developing training and development process of every employee
PTCL is not utilizing its superplus profit in long term investment projects which be done
PTCL should increase network connectivity

Conclusion
No doubt PTCL is enjoying monoply but the time is came when compitition will force company
to change policies to become favourite telecom service provider in market. The company
maintains aleading position in pakistan as infrastructure provider in telecom operators. PTCL
encourage billing on line system that each and every customer has to pay his/her bill on line
basis.
