Right Heat Sink and Component Replacement Step 2 - Replace Right Heat Sink Components 9 sian (Vd | Creu boot Power MOSFET Tank damping Damping resistor FET ‘+ To replace the damping resistor FET, remove the screw and shoulder washer that Secure ito the heatsink. Postion the new damping resistor FET on the heat sink and reinstall the washer and serew. ‘+ Toreplace the RF power diode, remove the serew and shoulder washer that secure the diode to the heat sink. Postion the new RF power diode on the heat sink and reinstall the washer and screw. + To replace the tank damping resistor, emove the two Screws that secure the {op and bottom of te resistor to the heat sink. Position the new tank damping resistor on the heat sink and reinstall the screws, + Toreplace the power MOSFET (under the small circuit board), remove the four screws that secure the small circuit board tothe heat sink. Set the board and serews aside for reinstallation a ‘Note the orientation of the power MOSFET. Then, remove the two screws that #| secure ito the heat ink. Position the new power MOSFET on the heat sink | toil vo er a 3 Position the small circuit board overthe power MOSFET and reinstall the four) serews that secure the board to the eat snk. Force FX-C Service Manual 7419 ‘Right Heat Sink and Component Replacement Step 3 - Install the Right Heat Sink A ‘nthe right side ofthe chassis, lide the eat ink components down into the matching connectors on the Power Suply/RF board. Insta te two serews that secure the right heatsink to the rail under the Power Suppy/RF boar. ‘Connect the right heat sink tank damping resistor cable to J12 on the Power Supply/RF board Poston the support bracket over the het sinks and instal the thee Srews that secure the bracket tthe left rear st sink plastic sere) and othe left front and righ heat inks (two metal screws) - Install the Control board, (1) Position the Control board over the Power Supply/RF board with the control board components facing the rear panel. Fit the edges ofthe board {nto the slots on the heatsinks. Tum off the generator. Disconnect the power cord from the wall receptacle. Remove the five sews that secure the cover to the chassis. Lift the cover off the chassis, Sethe cover and serews aside for reinstallation. Remove the three screws (one plastic and two metal) that secure the support bracket to the heat sinks. Save the serews and bracket for reinstal . Disconnect and remove the low voltage power supply (1) Disconnect the Power Supply/RF board cables from the low voltage ‘power supply (red spade lug and 3-pin connector atthe rear; 6-pin ‘connector atthe front). Mark the eables fr reinstallation. {2) Remove the four screws that secure the low voltage power supply to the Power Supply/RF board. Save them for reinstallation. (3) Lif the low voltage power supply off the Power Supply/RF board, Force FX-C Service Manual 721 seinpedoig juewiave|dey Low Voltage Power Supply Replacement ‘Step 2— Install the Low Voltage Power Supply ‘A, Place the new low voltage power supply on the Power Supply! [RF board and install the four screws that secure it tothe board. B. Facing the front ofthe unit, connect the cables from the Power Supply/RF board to the new low voltage power supply. 3-pin cable connected to Jt ToBWI4 on the Power Supply RF board, (1) Connect the 3-pin cable toJ1 at the rear ofthe low voltage power supply. ‘Verify that this cable is connected to 17 on the Power Supply/RF board, (2) Connect the red spade lug with the green and yellow ground wire to the ‘ground lug on the left rear comer of the low voltage power supply. (3) Conner the 6-pin cable to J2 atthe front of the low voltage power supply. Solder the six wires from the opposing end ofthis cable tothe Power Supply/RF board as follows: + J2pin 1 (orange wire) to location BW14 pin 3 on Power Supply/RF board + 32 pin2 (ced wire) 0 location BW14 pin 1 on Power Supply/RF board + 12 pin3 (red wire) to location BW14 pin 6 on Power Supply/RF board + B2pin (black wire) to location BW14 pin 4 on Power Supply/RE board 722 Force FX-C Service Manual Power Entry Module Replacement + 32 pin $ (black wire) to location BW14 pin $ on Power Supply/RF board + 32 pin 2 (blue wire) to location BW14 pin 3 on Power Supply/RF board CC. Position the support bracket over the heat sinks and install the three serews that secure the bracket tothe left rear heatsink (plastic screw) and tothe left front and right heat sinks (two metal screws). . Position the cover above the chassis and slide it down. Install the five screws ‘that secure the cover tothe chassis Power Entry Module Replacement Equipment required: + Phillips screwdriver. Slide the module out the rea panel until you can access the grounding lug post inside the rear panel. Then, remove the ut and washer that secure the ground wie ring terminal tothe grounding lug. Check the cable connections onthe new power entry module, using the illustration or the module you just removed as a reference. B. Postion the new power entry module near the cableiring terminal through the opening, panel opening, routing the Ring terminal . ‘Slide the ground wire rng terminal onto the grounding lug poston the rear panel, Then install the washer and nut that secure the ring terminal tothe Post. . Press firmly to snap the power entry module in place. Install the two serews ‘that socure ito the rear panel E. Connect the power entry module cable to J6 on the Power Supply’ RF boar. F. Position the cover above the chassis and slide it down. Install the five screws that secure the cover tothe chassis. @ Reconnect the power cord to the rear panel. 7.24 Force FX-C Service Manual Power Supply/RF Board Replacement Power Supply/RF Board Replacement Equipment required: + Phillips screwdriver Electric Shock Hazard—To allow stored energy to dissipate after power is. disconnactad, wai t least five minutes before replacing pars. “The generator contains electrostatic sonstve components. Tum off the generator. Disconnect the power cord from the wall receptacle. 1B. Remove the five screws that sccure the cover tothe chassis, Lift the cover off the chassis. Set the cover and screws aside for reinstallation. . Disconnect and remove the front panel assembly. (1) Unlock the connector on the Control board and disconnect the display ‘board ribbon cable from the Control boa. (2) Disconnect the power switch cable from the Power Supply’ RF board, (2) Disconnect the two REM connectors from the Power Supply/RF boar. (4) Remove the four serews that secure the front pane to the chassis. Save the screws for reinstallation. (8) Slide the front panel assembly forward, carefully disengaging it from the electrical contacts on the Power Supply/RF board. D. Disconnect the Footswitch board ribbon cable from the Power Supply/RF board . Disconnect the power entry module from the Power Supply/RF board F. Remove the four screws that secure the rail tothe chassis. Also remove the screw in the centr of the Power Supply/RF board (behind the Control board). Save the screws for reinstallation, G Remove the assembly (Power Supply/RF board, heat sinks, Control board, low voltage power suppl, fan) from the chassis. Force FX-C Service Manual 7-25 Bic susuonerdeeics 79904 een Power SupplyIRF Board Replacement Step 2— Remove Components from the Old Board Note: Save al pants, srews, brackets, ete. for reinstallation. 'A. To remove the Control board arefily slide the Control board straight upto disconnect it from the Power Supply/RF board. St the board aside in an antistatic container for reinstallation. BB. To remove the support bracket, remove the three screws that secure the bracket to the top ofthe heat sinks. C. To remove the left front heat sink, remove the two serews that secure the base ofthe heat sink to the rail under the Power Supply/RF board. Lift the heat snk to disconnect it rom the Power Supply/RF board. . Remove the left rear heatsink. (1) Disconnect the 4-wire heat sink (bridge rectifier) cable from the Power ‘Supply/RF board. (2) On the lft side ofthe chassis, remove the two screws tat secure the base ‘of the left rear heat sink tothe rail under the Power Supply/RE board. Lift ‘the heatsink to disconnect it from the Power Supply/RF board. {@) Loosen but do not remove the serew securing the component clip below the bridge rectifier E. Remove the right heatsink. (1) Disconnect the right heat sink cable from the Power Supply! RF board, {2) On the right side of the chassis, remove the two serews that Secure the ‘base of the heatsink tothe rail under the Power Supply RF board. Save the serews for reinstallation. Lift the heatsink to isconnect it from the Power Supply/RF board. FF. Remove the low voltage power supply. (1) Disconnect the low voltage power supply cables from the Power Supply! RF board at 7. (2) Disconnect the 6-pin cable that is connected to 32 on the low voltage power supply. (3) Remove the four screws that secure the low voltage power supply to the Power Supply/RF board, Remove the low voltage power supply. & Remove the fan, (1) Disconnect the fan control connector from the Power Supply’ RF board. (2) Remove the four screws and nuts that secure the fan tothe underside of the Power Supply/RF boar. 7-26 Force FX-C Service Manual Power SupplyiRF Board Replacement Step 3 — Install Components on the New Board Follow these steps to reinstall the components you removed from the existing ‘board onto the new Power Supply/RF board. ‘A. Install the fan on the new Power Supply/RF board. (1) Position the fan onthe underside of the Power Supply/RF board and install the four nus and screws that secure it to the board. (2) Connect the fan contol connector to J4 on the Power Supply! RE board, B. Install the ow voltage power supply on the new boar. (1) Place the low voltage power supply on the Power Supply’ RF board and install the four serews that secue it tothe board (2) Connect the 6-pin low voltage power supply cable to J7 on the Power Supply/RF board. (9) Connect the 6-pin low voltage power supply cable located at BW14 on the ower Supply/RF board to 12 on the low voltage power supply. . Install the right heat sink (1) On the right side ofthe Power Supply/RF bourd, side the right heat sink ‘components into the matching connectors (2) Install the two serews that secure the heatsink tothe rail under the board (@) Connect the right heatsink cable to J12 on the Power Supply’ RF board, D. Install the let rear heat sink. (1) Slide the lft rear heatsink components into the matching connectors on the left rear ofthe Power Supply/RF boar. {2) Install the two screws that secure the heatsink tothe rail under the board, {) Tighten the screw securing the component clip over the Triae Thermister (4) Connect the 4-wire heat sink (bridge rectifier) cable to J8 on the Power ‘Supply/RF board. a . Position the support bracket over the heat sinks and instal the tree screws that secure the bracket tothe lft rear heatsink (plastic sew) and to the left front and right het sinks (two metal screws). G To install the Control board, position the board over the Power Supply/RF ‘board with the control board components facing the rear panel. Ft the edges ‘of the board into the slots on the heat sinks, Slide the board down, carefully fitting the edge connector into the matching connector on the Power Supply! RF board. Force FX-C Service Manual 727 Power SupplyiRF Board Replacement Step 4 — Install the Power Supply/RF Board Assembly 'A. Position the Power Supply/RF board assembly on the floor ofthe chassis and instal the four sorews that secure the ral tothe chassis, Install the screw in the center ofthe board (behind the Control board). 1B, Connect the power entry module cable to J6 on the Poster Supply’ RF board, CC. Connect the footswitch board ribbon cable to JS on the Power Supply/RF board D. Install the front panel assembly (1) Position the front pane] assembly infront ofthe chassis and carefully slide it into the electrical contacts on the Power Supply/RF board. (2) Insal the four screws that secure the front panel to the chassis. {@) Connect the REM wires tothe Power Supply/RF boar. + Connect the white wires with the 2-pin nonlocking connector to J1$ + Connect the red (4) Connect the power switch cable to J10 on the Power Supply/RF board. Tum off the generator, and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet, ‘Thoroughly wipe all surfaces ofthe generator and power cord with a mild cleaning solution or disinfectant and a damp cloth. Follow the procedures approved by your institution or use a validated infection control procedure. Do not allow fluid to enter the chassis, The generator cannot be sterilized. Step 3 - Ship the generator ‘A. Attach a tag to the generator that includes the Return Authorization Number and the information (hospital, phone number, ec.) listed in Step 1 ~ Obtain a Retum Authorization Number, B. Be sure the generator is completely dry before you pack it fr shipment. Package it in its original shipping container, if available . Ship the generator, prepaid, to the Valleylab Service Center Returning Circuit Boards Package circuit boards fr shipment as follows: 4. Place each circuit board in an electrostatic discharge (ESD) bag or container 2. Provide a separate packing container fr each circuit board 3. Attach a tag to the container that includes the Return Authorization Number and the information (hospital, phone number, et.) listed previously in Obtain a Return Authorization Number. 4. Ship the circuit board prepaid tothe Valleylab Service Center.
