University of Jordan Chemistry Department
Grading system:
Laboratory reports: Students will learn how to write a laboratory report with the
formal format including: introduction, experimental part, results, discussion &
conclusion, in addition to answers to the experiment's questions, and reference.
This skill will be developed for each student through the whole set of experiments
through practicing reports for each experiment performed in the laboratory.
Evaluation and quizzes: evaluation for students through the whole semester will
be carried out by the laboratory instructor (Dr. Sharif Arar). Evaluation will be
based on the student's performance, including their knowledge of analytical
chemistry and how to prepare and handle solutions before the instrumental
measurement, pre-lab preparation, gained knowledge in the lab experiments, and
ethics inside the laboratory environment.
Oral examinations: will test every student about his knowledge of the previous or
past experiment he performed (theory, experimental part, laboratory report
contents, and instrument component parts and their function). The quiz will be
conducted through the laboratory session time, to measure the ability of students
of understanding basic ideas of the experiment. The questions of examinations
will be based on the experiment theory, experimental part, questions. Also what is
discussed on the board during laboratory times. Laboratory reports contain all of
this in addition to how to perform calculations related to the results of a certain
experiment.
